The St. James is a beautifully located on the lagune. We were welcomed by the staff, and shown to our room. The room looked out over part of the lagune. The decoration of the room was done verry tastfull. A nice sitting area. The bed was terrific and verry comfortable. The bathroom was verry spacious with a double sink, a bath and a shower. The shower had a good waterpressure which makes taking a shower a pleasure! We had a late lunch snack on the terrace. We also ate dinner at the hotel twice. On the menu were a lot of nice things to choose from aswell as from the winelist. The servers were most kind. The diningroom has a view over the lagune. The second night we had diner at the hotel they had put on the fireplace which gave the diningroom a verry warm and cozy atmosphere. Apart from the diningroom they have a nice open room where you can sit and also go on the internet, and a bar that is also verry ellegantly decorated. All in all een verry nice and comfortable hotel to stay in.

We were warmly welcomed here and the room was fabulous. overlooking the bay. The gardens were immaculate and service superb. We ordered a picnic hamper which was huge and filled with eveything for a feast-£20 for two, blanket provided! Car was cleaned for us before we left and staff were charming. About 5 minute drive from the waterfront where there are many fish restaurants. Would definitely come back to stay.

Room Tip: Suites facing the lake are wonderful. Very spacious.

After quite a long drive from Addo Elephant park we were wlecomed by the General Manager. We were upgraded to a deluxe suite lake facing. Bathroom was awesome, the bed was certainly a king size and the room very tastefully decorated.

The location is not in the centre of Kynsa but is only a short drive away. The gardens and pools are very nice and well maintained.

Breakfast was really good, hot and cold options available, and they even washed our car for free!

Highly recommended

Knysner is a very beautiful coastal town and the St James Hotel is tucked away at the end of the water front but actually with gardens that go down to the waters edge. This country house is a peaceful very comfortable hotel with all the facilities you would expect.
Our room was huge with a lounge and full kitchen but best of all was the view out to sea past the heads which guard the lagoon.
The hotel is run by the friendliest people I have had the pleasure to meet, on learning it was our Anniversary they prepared a special table for dinner with champagne.
I can honestly say that the food in this hotel is fantastic we cannot rate it to highly, wonderful seafood and the most fantastic culinary treats such as slow roasted pork and mussels in cream garlic and coriander.

Room Tip: Ask for a lagoon facing room

We stayed in a deluxe room with a lake view. On arrival the general manager made us feel very welcome. He showed us around the property and checked in with us several times during our stay. We had accidently booked for the wrong night. We phoned the hotel and they let us move our booking with no extra charge. The room was huge and had a great bed and bath overlooking the lake. The mini bar was well stocked. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent. They even washed our car for free. Highly recommend!

An excellent place to stay with lovely views over the lagoon. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent as was the service. Our rooms were enormous (we were upgraded to suites as the place was quiet) and very well furnished. It was very luxurious. The bar and restaurant also had open fires which made it cosy and warm on a winter’s evening. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The place is a little out of Knysna town but it is walkable, probably half an hour or so.
