“Good value for money”
Reviewed March 2, 2010

We stayed in the Honeymoon suite which is nicely entered through the garden. You have an amazing view over the lagoon, the room is a good size with a two seater sofa, coffee table, fireplace and en-suite. The bathroom with a free-standing bath tub, shower and vanity unit is lovingly decorated.

The Lodge is about 1.5 km away from the marina - you can't walk to the marina but parking spaces are provided.

The breakfast buffet is basic but the owners take great care of you and will offer a cooked breakfast to your preferences.

It's good value for money and we were very happy with our suite

We stayed at Point Lodge for 2 nights in January while on our honemoon. It was in a great location so we could easily explore Knysna. There is a pool at the B&B with nice views of the water. The rooms were spacious but a little run down. Service was great - everyone was very friendly. The only real compliant was the shower (we still in the Millwood Cottage). It was either quite cold or too hot...not possible to get a comfortable tempature. If you're traveling on a budget then I would recommend PL, otherwise I might try another B & B in the area that is a bit more updated. Other places we stayed while in SA were Tintagel House (Cape Town), 6 in the Circle (Hout Bay), Grootbos, Plateau Country House (Nature's Valley), Kirkman's Kamp (Kruger) and Plumwood Inn (Franschhoek). I would recommend eating at Belvidere Manor Hotel and 34 South if in the Knysna area.

We stayed here on the 25th Oct 2008 for 1 night. The location is fantastic.Right on the waters edge, with great views. The owners could not be more helpful by booking us a table for our meal at the waterfront. The rooms were nice and clean, with very comfy beds. The pool was nice also. The best bit was the wonderful breakfast.Nothing was to much trouble for the staff. We will be back.

Point Lodge was the second of our stops on the Garden Route and we liked it a lot. The gardens are beautiful and the setting is lovely – on the lagoon. I could have happily spent a few days loafing by the pool. Great for birdwatchers. Ibis on the lawn etc.

Traffic on the main road is over a hundred yards away and screened off by trees. So if outside you might just pick up the sound of a heavy truck but in the rooms all was tranquillity. Our room was in a chalet (Millwood) outside the main building with bathroom, sitting room and separate bedroom. Linen, toiletries, etc are nice without being extravagant. There was a small veranda outside – and for those with laptops the wifi could be picked up there. No air conditioning but there is a ceiling fan.

Although there is TV in the room (with UK Sky News in the evening) it was very relaxing sitting in the main lounge. And there is an honesty bar (always open). The owners, Ryk & Amanda are friendly without being overpowering, our breakfasts were excellent and the bill was reasonable.

I had to work hard to find anything at all to criticise. Perhaps the design of the bath – there were some slippy tiles on the bath pedestal. But the owners are planning to do something about that anyway.

Everything about Point Lodge is high quality, extremely comfortable but unpretentious; it is a very, very good B&B.

Thanks Ryk and Amanda and I hope to be back.

We have stayed here many times before. Location on the lagoon is fantastic, with good size swimming pool.

The Point Lodge was a wonderful B&B. The rooms were spacious, very clean and comfortable. The owners were very friendly and helpful with planning and suggestions. The B&B is in a peaceful setting at the edge of Knysna Lagoon. Although it is 2km from town, and a bit isolated it is a short drive into town (make sure to go to Cruise Cafe Restaurant - amazing meal!) but it is such a lovely setting, with its own pool and a beautiful view of the lagoon and headlands.
