As South Africans, the fee charged for walking with and feeding the elephants is hefty seeing that it feels as if you are pushed through a wors machine. The whole trip from when you leave the main building to when you get back felt extremely rushed. in and out. As soon as the next bus arrived we where told to move to the side and get going.
I didnt appreciate the way the ranger spoke to the elephant. I also saw 2 rangers with bull hooks. I understand that they are wild animals and could be extremely dangerous to guests, but still. Even though the elephants look well cared for it felt like a strict regime which these elephants must follow day in and out, begging for the food in the buckets, walking for 100m and back, until new people arrive (after no longer that 20 minutes)same pattern for the day, every day. They looked tired. Are they really happy? Living their best life??

What an experience. Getting so close to these amazing creatures was just incredible. One of my favourite experiences in RSA

Our first visit to the elephant sanctuary was eight years ago, so we decided to re visit and really enjoyed ourselves. To be able to get up so close to these magnificent animals is incredible. More so to be able to hand feed them as well. We really enjoyed the experience.

Another memorable experience, feeding a bucket of fruit to eager elephants. This is a well organised tour with plenty of interaction and photo opportunities. Thought the rangers were excellent, creating a fun environment whilst giving plenty of information, and were particularly considerate to my wife in ensuring she walked around safely and then provided a wooden step so she could get on and off the carriage

We truly enjoyed being able to feed and touch the elephants. The whole experience emphasized the individual characters of the elephants and their majesty. We hope that everyone who visits the sanctuary will come away understanding why it is critical to protect the elephants and their habitat. Our visit was enjoyable, emotional and educational. The sanctuary and the guides present the animals in a very sensitive and loving manner, striking a difficult balance between their wild nature and comfort with human contact. Thank you!
