“Trek Walk”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

It offers a very nice trekking expedition. They take you to the hill top and you got to come down walking. The view on the way is beautiful. The trek is not very difficult but is good for fun.

“Such a lovely outing”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

We visited this attraction at the Knysna Heads in February. The boat ride out to the heads was nice and lunch orders are taken en route. We then did the short walk in the area which takes you back to the restaurant.

The food at this restaurant was absolutely delicious and worth the visit.

While the view at the heads was great the food was the star and would recommend this to all.

“Overloaded.”
Reviewed March 3, 2014

I can't blame them for the weather, which was awful that day, but selling an "Eco-trip" into pristine landscape, then jamming about 120 of us into a boat, trailers ,and finally a downhill shuffle for 2km was about as inappropriate as it could be. Don't do this if you want any personal space or peace.

As we are an outdoor activity the weather always plays a big role in what we can and cannot do. We do watch the reports every day but as you know with any weather report it also can’t always be trusted. Weather is unfortunately quite fickle and can change rapidly for the better or the worse. If the reports show that extremely bad or violent weather is forecasted then we would have no problem in cancelling our activity to Featherbed. Safety of our guests is always our first concern and all our standard operating procedures adhere to the relevant safety requirements. However we have experienced some rain over the last period but no weather was forecasted that would affect the safety of our guests.

Our tours often some tour groups whom due to itinerary constraints generally only have one opportunity to visit our Nature Reserve. The tour is explained in detail to all of our visitors so that there is no misconception as to where they are going and what they can expect and with this in mind it is left up to the individual to decide if they would like to join us on the day or perhaps if possible book for another day.

Our vessel is licenced to carry 117 persons but we only take 105 on board as this comfortably seats everyone. So we are not sure about your reference to 120 people as we cannot accommodate that many passengers on one vessel.

Our vehicles at the reserve are designed to enable the guest to have access to the views as we drive up the headland and closing them in would deter from the outdoor experience. If we have had any foul weather our pathways are checked by our staff to make sure that all is in order. Safety of our guests is a top priority.

Through the entire tour the guests are accompanied by our Tour Guides who are very experienced, well trained and careful and if they thought that at any stage the vehicle ride or the walk could not be completed, they would have contacted the management team. The walk down through the forest is explained in detail by the guides on the vehicle before commencing and once again it is up to the individual to decide if they would like to do the optional walk or remain on the vehicle and go back to the restaurant area.

Perhaps if you had spoken to any of our Managers on Duty regarding your concerns , we would have been able to assist you with another tour or found a solution to have made your experience pleasureable.

“No animal life but lots of beauty”
Reviewed March 3, 2014

Boat rides are always fun and the guides were funny, informative and pleasant.
The ride up the mountain was okay...a little noisy and smelly from the petrol but there were some stunning views of the Heads.
The hike was not at all strenuous. Just lots and lots of beautiful seascapes and flora. The cave/arch was dramatic and pretty. Don't be scared of the reported 120 stairs. Many are very little stairs. It feels more like 50.
Much lichens, mussels and even a seahorse or two.
We don't eat meat but there were enough non-meat alternatives for us to have a nice lunch before heading back.
To be recommended.

Dear Ranchette7

Thank you for your review. As we are a Nature Reserve our focus is on the indiginous flora and landscape and we are pleased that you enjoyed the views, especially the caves. Thank you for your recommendation.
