“Breathtaking Experience”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

The perfect way to start your day when visiting Knysna. We went on the first tour of the morning. You are warmly welcomed by friendly tour guides and enjoyed a relaxing ferry ride to and from the Featherbed restaurant at the beginning and end of the visit.
Upon arrival at the restaurant, the group is taken to the top of the Western Head in a vehicle to enjoy the breathtaking views of Knysna, the estuaries and the ocean. The group is then escorted down the Head by the guides via a picturesque hiking trail with various view points along the way. You also have the option of returning to the bottom with the vehicle if you're not up to the 2km hike down.
A delicious buffet lunch is served as soon as the group returns to the restaurant - a variety of dishes are on offer and it caters to the tastes of each and all. The restaurant itself is quite enchanting - a wooden deck-like structure between the trees, which also serves as shade.
Not a once in a lifetime experience, it's the kind of attraction you want to return to and experience all over again - multiple times!

“Lovely relaxing way to spend a few hours”
Reviewed January 1, 2013

Well organised trip to this private reserve. Knowledgeable and friendly guide. The walk down was fun but a little disappointing in that only those at the front of the line could hear the guide's informative commentary. Lunch was very good with plenty of choice in a delightful setting.

“Breathtaking Scenery”
Reviewed January 1, 2013

The Featherbed Nature Reserve is well worth a visit. We went on the 12:20pm tour which included a buffet lunch which is quite a spread, and caters well for vegetarians. A tour guide accompanies you during the entire visit which starts and ends with a ferry ride. After a drive up to a fairly high point from where you can view the Knysna lake you have the option of returning to the bottom in the same vehicle or taking the approx. 2 km walk. If you can, do the walk. The scenery that presents itself is quite breathtaking.

“Great boatride and spectacular views”

Offers views of the red cliffs outside Knysna bay that you can't see from anywhere else. Very informative boatride and hike in the reserve.
