We had a great meal in the restaurant for supper. The approach to the reserve at nightime is not well indicated but once you get there it is absolutely enchanting. Food and service were second to none! If you get the opportunity to go there don't miss out!

We stayed here two nights in August. Excellent service and a wonderful concept. The rooms are well designed and the food is excellent. Great attention to detail.

This place was just unimaginably beautiful. Once you arrive, you leave your car at the bottom of the hill where you meet your driver guide for your transfer up to reception... and our Phantom adventure begun!

We were welcomed by the hostess with the highest level of Customer Service and she immediately guided us to our tree suite, the Upper Tree Camp, Erica. Oh it felt like a fairytale… we were hidden away beneath the tree canopy. Our spacious tree suite was very comfortable, intimate, romantic… perfect for our last night on honeymoon… Luxury room and astonishing bathroom with wall length glass windows...nice touches like the Charlotte Rhys toiletries made it extraordinary. Outside was a private bath on the deck where my husband and I leisurely enjoyed sparkling wine and nibbled on some snacks. The feeling we experienced as the rays filtered through the canopy trees could not be captured. It was truly a magical and humbling experience. And so we were off to dreamland. This was one of those dreams where I wish it could last forever.

The next morning when we woke up we realized the time was ticking, and it was almost time to check out. We went to the forest boma where we enjoyed yet another scrumptious breakfast. The chef also made us a delicious sweet surprise which we enjoyed with our coffee. All the compliments to the chef.

This was a fairytale from start to the very end. One night at Phantom Eco Forest Lodge is just not enough! You have to stay min 02 nights or more. There are several activities available such as the Forest Walk, you can relax at the Bubble Barrel or go for a body massage at the Body Boma. For the more energetic you can enjoy mountain biking and canoes – mouth watering picnic lunches are available to take along on these excursions. It was a truly wonderful experience!!!

Arrived on a grey, getting cold April afternoon/evening after a drive from Franschhoek. Collected at the main gate and driven, with our luggage to reception. A friendly greeting and necessary briefings and shown to our rooms. We had booked two rooms as we were informed that our daughter (age 14) could not sleep in the same room as us as there was no room for an extra bed, and indeed there wasn't. As the rooms are tree suites and not close together, we were given a room next door but one to our daughter. As you can imagine she was a little freaked out by this. We did ask if she could be moved into the room next door but told no she couldn't. After more 'freaking out' and refusing to unpack, my husband went to reception and asked the lady there (sorry I cannot remember names). She of course said that she would look into it and didn't think it would be a problem. A little while later, daughter was shown to her room (next to ours, yippee she was happy) and all was good. By this time it was dark and rather chilly but how nice it was to come back from dinner to find that the invisible but oh so expert housekeeping team had turned on the electric blankets. We discovered that under floor heating in the bathroom wasn't working and reported it. It was looked into and on return from a day out was told that it working. It wasn't working and again informed reception who sent the electrician again to mend it. It was only on the second visit that they found a fault in the connection under the slate floor and that of course meant having the floor up. The team were very grateful that we had reported it and of course did everything they could to make the bathroom warm by providing a gas heater. They couldn't understand why it was not mentioned by previous guest. The chef at Phantom is lovely and always came out to speak to us and make sure that everything was Ok with breakfast or dinner and the gesture of Easter eggs on Easter Sunday was perfect. Also being joined by the Vervet monkey was very entertaining, they are so naughty. We watched one lady get mugged of her breakfast pastries - very funny to watch, but not so funny to be the victim. We enjoyed our stay at Phantom, but it's not really a place for teenagers who have to "connected to internet all day" There is only one place to receive internet access and to us that was not a problem but for a 14 year old who would have liked it in the room, of course it was a huge problem. Had a great stay at Phantom, thank you very much to all the team.

We went here after spending time at a wedding and travelling with friends. This was our first night alone and was just perfect! We arrived and our rooms werent quite ready (we did arrive early) and we sat looking out on a stunning view having drinks. There were monkeys jumping all around us which was lovely.

After a little wait we were walked up to our rooms along little wooden pathways, all the rooms are little houses completely seperate from one another. we stayed in a room called 'Erica' it was just stunning. It was immaculate and very well dressed, it had lots of character and was just so pretty. We went to one of the middle range rooms and had a bath on the balcony- very luxurios with Champagne when we arrived. We walked through the forest before lounging around the top pool. There was a huge storm while we were there which lasted a couple of hours which was a shame but beautiful nevertheless.

The dinner was lovely and adventurous- although possibly 6 courses was a little excessive! The waiting service were nice and frinedly but left us alone when needed.

We did have an incredible stay here, I thought possibly it was a little expensive but well worth it for pure relaxation and somewhere a little different!

Well we wanted to stay at a tree house atleast one night, and we now regret not staying there longer. This truly is a unique and atmospheric place. The rooms are very spacious (we stayed in a honeymoon suite-porcupine) and just knowing you are perched high up in the forest with all the animals around you is an incredible feeling. All the staff are very helpful and will go out of their way to assist you. The food is phenomenal and they really cater to all your needs and want you to have a memorable stay. The place is not cheap, but as a special treat it is definitely worth it....5 stars and worth it.

We stayed here for 2 nights on our honeymoon, and it was our favourite place we stayed on the garden route.
We had an upper tree suite, with an outside bathtub, which was wonderful. The shower was fantastic, glass fronted and it felt like having a shower literally in the trees. I felt guilty using it as often as I did, particularly being an eco reserve, however it was my favourite shower ever, and if I had one at home, getting up in the morning would be a lot easier!
The food in the restaurant was delicious and the set menu was really good value, as the quality of food and cooking was fantastic. The breakfast was also delicious.
Service is brilliant, they were quick to change the bed, when for some reason Virgin, who we booked through, had requested us a twin bed (on our honeymoon!!) When they heard we were on honeymoon, they left a chilled bottle of bubbly in our room, even better enjoyed in our outdoor bathtub.
There are two pools, we only used the upper one in the moroccan area. There are sun loungers up there, with a fantastic view over the river and forest, and swinging chairs and bar to enjoy the setting.
My only thoughts are that it is expensive to stay here, and although a wonderful place, I'm not sure is entirely worth the price tag.
