“hard Work and good home cooked food = a winning combination”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2014

Tottie's is on the Rheenendal Road which is about twenty five minute drive from the centre of Knysna.. It is an area off farm land and local produce is sold from the many outlets which are now being enterprising.

It is over a year since we visited Tottie,s for their famous Sunday Buffet . The starters were varied and my favourite of pickled fish was on the menu today . The mains were the usual fish , beautiful roast beef and a lamb curry all served on warm plates.
The sweets were few in number but all excellent. The sweets are not out on show but are ordered through the waitress.
Sunday on the deck with live music , attentive staff and lovely weather is a must visit for all locals and visitors.
The garden at Tottie's is a must see. Marion and her husband are on hand to make your journey to their resturaunt an enjoyable experience

“Home cooked sunday lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2014

Wonderful experience. Quirky restaurant up in the hills. All you can eat over three courses for R95. Between the two of us we had fish with a variety of wonderful different salads, followed by roast beef, chicken, roast potatoes, rice, creamed spinach, beans, butternut squash, and I went back and had some lamb curry, followed by a dessert and washed down with a great bottle of wine. Service and ambiance exceptional. 7 hours later we were still full. A must for sunday lunch.

Food is top class! Waited a while for the bobotie (freshly made) but mab was it worth it. Spinach feta quiche to die for. Friendly staff. Sat outside in the bea tranquil garden by the koi pond. Hidden gem near knysna.

“Quirky interesting restaurant.”

Quirky decor, pleasant surroundings. You can watch a cricket match on Sundays. Nice buffet on Sundays with good vegetables and salads. My chicken curry was excellent. Owners are very personable. Makes a good Sunday outing.

“Great Place, Great Food, Great Value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2014

Totties has been around in various formats for over 100 years. After all the years we have been going to Knysna we heard about it for the first time from a friend who invited us to join them for the Sunday lunch special (R90 per head).

The "dining room" is situated behind the petrol station in what must have been an old barn. Its rustic, has character and is a delight to eat in - lots of open windows to let in cool fresh air from the garden where kids can also play.

Totties was able to accommodate 18 of us at 1 table which was covered by a crisp white table cloth as well as proper white freshly laundered napkins ( a sure sign to me of good things to come), not those cheap and nasty paper serviettes that everybody is going for these days.

The 3 course meal was tasty and freshly made. Despite the high volume of customers being seated the service was just fine.

I won't give it all away here but you can expect some very pleasant surprises on the wine and drinks lists.

All in all we had a wonderful, loooong, over indulgent afternoon at Totties. It is such a pleasant surprise to leave a great restaurant without feeling stung by a ridiculously high bill, especially in such a popular holiday town like Knysna.

Give them a try. You wont be sorry!
