We went out on an overcast evening for the sunset cruise, so didn't get much of a sunset, but we had a great time out on the boat. As others have said, the boat is very comfortable and clean and in Karl, we had a great skipper.

We were out for two-and-a-half hours, during which time we got to enjoy stunning views of the lagoon and Kynsna as well as travel out to the heads. Karl is very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions, and did a great job of involving everyone in our small group.

We very much enjoyed having a few glasses of wine and discussing life in South Africa, whilst the boat was anchored in the lagoon. And Karl even gave us a lift back into town after the trip - a great guide and a lovely man.

My husband and I took the Sunset Cruise with Carl at Southern Cape Ocean Experience on Thursday 3rd October. We departed at about 4.30pm having been briefed thoroughly on safety instructions etc. Unfortunately the weather did not play ball for us that day and it was cloudy and overcast – but the cruise itself was exhilarating, informative and we saw such beautiful scenery and wildlife that we nearly didn’t miss the sunset at all. Carl was a mine of information, sharing local stories and history as well as giving plenty of info on local birds and seals etc. The boat itself is very well presented, very clean and we felt very safe on board. We anchored for a bit in the lagoon (at what would have been sunset) and my husband and I enjoyed the wine which we had brought with us, and all on board shared stories and got to know each other. There was no time constraints on this at all and we definitely got value for money in terms of time on board the boat. I am happy to highly recommend Southern Cape Ocean Experience to anyone looking for a tour of Knysna Bay and Heads. Piece of advice – wrap up, it can get cold.

Took our parents from Germany to a wonderful Sea Safari trip we all truly enjoyed. Karl made us all feel welcome and safe at all times. We also had the luck to see a Humpback whale and the beautiful scenery of the Knysna area. Absolutely stunning!

This was a great trip. The weather was nice and sunny and although there were some waves, Karl was very careful and made sure that no one could possibly get hurt. Even just the boat trip was a thrill in itself, including lifevests. At one point we also managed to find one whale, which unfortunately didn't want to do much with us but Karl kept chasing it very carefully and was a very good guide. He was an overall great guy, too. He was very nice to talk to and I felt really good about everything during the trip. The only downside was that we only saw one whale and from quite far away, but that's just luck! I would recommend this trip to everyone :D
