Tapas was were we agreed to meet friends to escape the hustle and bustle of the busy holiday season in December. There was a bit of a wait to find a table to seat 10, but no hassle to set it up once we had moved to the patio. The little plates of tapas provides a good variety of food to share for adults and kids alike. The fish was fresh and nicely battered and our selection of 8 /9 little plates was pretty good fate. The view over the water is pretty and the vibe, as the restaurant was full, was great. Service was good, considering how busy they were. The only disappointment was the pricing on some of the salad type options, like the Greek Salad, which arrived in a tiny bowl and really was tiny at R36. This needs to be rationalized. Overall a good experience though

Been wanting to come here for some time and was really looking forward to the visit. Tapas is situated in Knysna on Thesens island. It has an a awesome play area for the kids and it's great views of the lagoon. The menu seems to have something for everyone, remembering that this is a Tapas menu. We ordered 5 dishes between 3 of us. The cajun calamari salad, cripy prawns, calamari and spicy chorizo, garlic snails and hake goujons. Cajun salad was shocking. Crispy prawns were good. Garlic snails bland and absolutely no flavour in the chorizo & calamari. Fish goujans were nice and crispy. Portions are small. For between R50 - R70 per dish you would expect either larger portions or far better quality. Service was also poor. With someone from our table having to get up each time to find our waiter to order something. This place will unfortunately continue to draw crowds because of its great location and a place to bring your kids, not because of anything it serves.

After finishing our exciting trip on the Knysna Rib we were encouraged to take advantage of the 10% discount arrangement they have with Tapas.

I just love this way of eating small and different things at your own pace with lots of variety. My favourite is the olive oil smothered vine leaf dolmadas they serve with crisp white wine. Despite it being very busy everything went well and the music was good.

It's one of the few places you can go to these days where smokers have been allocated a conspicuously designated spot on the veranda just for themselves where any unwelcome challenges can be swiftly dealt with.

We ended up staying too long. It was just so enjoyable!

Walked in without a booking with a table of 8 and were seated immediately nearest to the kids outdoor play area ( without even asking ). Very friendly host seated us and took our drinks order which were brought within about 10 minutes ( excellent strawberry mojitos). We ordered a selection of tapas and each and every one of them was divine! Ordered tapas of mini hotdogs and mini burgers for the kris which went down a treat. Our waitress was brilliant, fast and very friendly. 100% recommend it

Had the most wonderful evening at Tapas & Oysters! The food was great - but it was the service, assistance and vibe that just made our evening extra special! Being Knysna locals we go to Tapas & Oysters quite frequently - and we are never disappointed. They have really got the right combination of everything - with extra helpings of friendliness and willingness to help! Great place!
