Owner description: Relatively short walk, only 3.6km. The hills and descents are very steep. Be sure to take your camera and eats because when you reach the Homtini River the rewards are satisfying and you will want to spend some time there. The waters of the river are very refreshing and is a great idea to take your swim wear for a dip in the summer.

I loved the walk. The first part was really nice, though later the last part before you get to the water is quite trecherous and climbing back up that section is really tough, but was worth it. I wish I would have swam in the water now with the beautiful scenery.

Fellow Trip Advisors: This is a Knysna MUST!! One of the best kept secrets of Knysna. Once open to the entire pucblic but now falls under Sanparks so a fee will need to be paid. Also keep in mind that they only allow 12 people at a time on the trail, its both a positive and a negative, so check first before making the trip there.

The walk is short and pleasant. The wildlife is amazing. Best to go in summer.

I Recommend:
Take a swim up the gorge to the right when you come down, there's beautiful waterfalls
Do some big jumps
Take a waterproof Camera

Enjoy

Definately more challenging than just a walk in the park but when you get to the end it is worth all the effort.

Its a stiff walk, for sure. Steeeeeep downhill slog down to the drupkelders themselves and then, of course you have to hike that out again to get back. This is not a gentle meander for the unfit. But if you are up to it, it is worth every drop of sweat over and over again. A crystal, ice-cold river flows in the rocky ravine at the bottom of that hike. And if you bring your costume you can go for an adventurous swim up-stream between sheer cliff walls from rock pool to rock pool. But this is not really the best thing about the Drupkelders. The best thing is some undefinable magical something that you find there. It just is a very special place. If I tried to tell you why you'd think me impossibly whimsical. So all I will say is "go and see for yourself". And take your cossy, your towel and a picnic basket!

Awesome place to go, a nice hike down into an untouched gorge. the best wat to do this though is to go with the adventure centre in knysna who do a guided trip up through the gorge, swimming and jumping off the cliffs
