Raasoie feels like an authentic curry house from Bengal or India. It has appropriate pictures on the wall , but little homage to western interior decorating!
But the uninspired interior is unimportant when your food arrives.
Portions are very good and everything I have tried at Raasoie has always been excellent.
Just be careful. If they advise you the curry is hot - believe them!
One of the only authentic Indian style restaurants in Knysna - and an experience you will enjoy if you love Indian food.

The restaurant is small and tends to get very busy specially when there is Indian groups visiting Knysna. The food is the regular Indian fair and seem to stay the same. No new items are found on the menu.

If they offered an authentic Indian taste to their dishes, I definately would eat there more often. The dish I ordered was Paneer Tika Masala and butter naan less butter. The Tika was sweet and pinkish in colour and the naan was like rubber. It must be a challenge to get proper ingredients to make authentic dishes and it seems that it was adapted for English taste. This restaurant can definately improve. Has the potential to be a great place to eat.. Lots of effort is required and I hope they are successful.

Indian food is actually supposed to be very aromatic, and India is worldly known for the spices. But I visited it on 17th of December 2011, But to my Dismay. It was a disastrous experience. Food was really bad. When I saw bad I really mean it. The butter naan I ordered was really more like a piece of plastic. Also the food really had a smell of bad oil, or Fish. I am vegetarian but Aromatic spicy food as in Indian food smells of Fish more than anything else. Really bad. And the Curry, more smelt like the oil as well. Curry was not curry and Naan was not like naan. Nothing else to say. The ambiance was also just okay.
