Owner description: The well-known Elephant Walk at Diepwalle starts and ends at the Diepwalle Forest Station, the "Mecca" of the Knysna forests. The walk offers a number of route options (7km, 8km & 9km). The area is regularly visited by the Knysna elephants but the chance of sighting of these animals is very slight. Currently there are only one elephant left in the forest. The trails are open between 6h00 and 18h00

“Great hike”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

Definitely a great idea!
Make sure you drive in from Nekkies side, as the drive from Simola can be quite long.
Loved the peace and quiet.

“Elephant Sanctuary”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

This is an elephant sanctuary so the elephants are quite used with human interaction. Walk entails taking your turn holding elephants trunk (with warm breath!) while the group takes a stroll thru some woodland. Opportunity to touch and stroke them while 'mahout?' tells you about it.
An experience not to be missed.
Giftwares/souvenirs in shop a bit pricey!.

“Once in a lifetime”
Reviewed May 15, 2013

I may be biased in this because I have always wanted to walk and ride and elephant, but the actual experience is lovely. Something you cannot do everyday some you just need to do when you are there. It is not cheap but worth every sent. You B&B may have a 10% discount you can use on the walk
