ok so we`re bucking the trend something we are not afraid of doing (see Rothman Manor-Swellendam etc) this may very well be the current best restaurant in Knysna now that Tides and La Lourie no longer exist but it must be said that standards of cuisine in Knysna are the lowest we have ever known after 15 continuous years of visiting. we did try Pembrey`s perhaps 5 years ago and commented that the food was pretty good but the place lacked any defining character and it was a gloomy experience. nothing has changed except that there were many more diners this time. needs a prettier setting, a decent welcoming party, more staffing with better training and abandonment of the ridiculous system whereby they refuse to bring your final bill to the table ;instead you wait by the till in the entrance lobby until somebody arrives.
spicy calamari, quail risotto, almond ravioii, figs and ham in gorgonzola wrap and great cheesecake---food is inventive and very acceptable. we love to have somebody to talkto about the food but impossible here----the dullness is our main complaint--so, no not for us
