“Long walk for a swim”
Reviewed February 1, 2014

It's a really nice beach with great surroundings. You see the Heads and around the lagoon. However, it's a long, long walk in the water until it gets at least a little deep. Really good for families with kids because of this!

you can go there after visiting the Knysna Heads! Walk inside the water and you can alm6ost cross from one side to the other in a certain time.

“Safe beach for little ones”
Reviewed January 26, 2014

Bollard Bay is perfectly safe for litte ones where the water is only knee deep for hundreds of metres into the Lagoon.

There are lots of crabs though so not ideal to let babies sit in the shallows!

“A beach on the edge of the lagoon.”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

As beaches go, there are many that are better. If you want a safe place to paddle; a place where the children can mess about in the water in reasonable safety - this is your only real option in Knysna, so go and enjoy it without concern. There are no real facilities here; no shops or services, you may picnic but not braai. The best beach in the area is at Bufflels Baai (Bay) - this can be reached within about 30 minutes by car.

“Still Magic”
Reviewed May 20, 2013

Almost a year since my last review of Bollard Bay and the beach, and its perfect view of The Heads, remains magical. This time i had 20 kids along as well as 9 adults. Some of us started with a hike through Steenbok Nature Reserve to Kingfisher Creek where we waded in ankle deep water around the bend until we'd rejoined the group. All had a fantastic time!
