We recently returned from our trip to South Africa. The garden route is just so beautiful. The scenery is very diverse from beautiful beaches to forests. All the towns along the way are worth a visit too.

This national park is just off the N2 garden route road. You have to pay at the gate to get in then drive the scenic road down to the coast.
It was windy while we were there, (not unusual in the eastern cape) and the waves crashing on the rock kept me mesmerised for ages. Great for all of you photographers.
We walked the board-walk trail through the forest to the suspension bridges. There were lots of cute little rock dassies to see and spectacular views.
There is a small sandy beach which would be nice to sit on if it's not windy!
The cafe was nice with great views out to sea and lunch was good, they also have a well socked gift shop which also sells food stuff for the campers.
A beautiful place with good walks to suit every level. (lots of steps on the board-walk)
certainly worth a detour for.

This place is a gem. Beautiful, relaxing, romantic - a wonderful find. We did not plan to visit but had stopped to do the nearby ziplining. We stayed overnight in one of the cabins. Really spacious and deck opens up to an amazing ocean view. The ocean waves crashed along the shore all night - loved it. The suspension bridge hike is short but well worth the exploration. The trip to the water fall on the first part of the otter trail (i think) is a great way to spend a nice morning.
There is one restaurant with decent food. I suggest bringing your own snacks and food to cook if you are staying the night. We were there end of June so it wasn't busy. We were told it is packed in the summer months.
There is a small entrance fee to the park.
I recommend this place for families and couples looking for a romantic getaway.
