We visited both the tapas bar(where the wines by the glass are very well priced, of good measure and the tapas menu is delightful ;albeit the service a little slow) and the main restaurant whichoffers lovely food and attentive service. In the design of both restaurants the existing machinery from the saw mill has been retained and incorporated in the decor which creates a very unusual and intriguing ambience.

This restaurant is a fairly new "kid on the block" - having not been to Knysna for some three odd years, this restaurant was a breath of fresh air! The service was good and the food excellent, not to mention good value for money. A definate recommendation.

The restaurant is situated in the old turbine hall along with the original turbines!
Service was discreet, friendly and efficient with the staff happy to explain the menu.

Food was excellent with a good choice of menu - the menu was presented rolled up and held with a jubilee clip - nice touch and nod to the industrial heritage!

Couldn't fault the presentation and quality of ingredients from starter to dessert. A good but limited range of South African wines were available by the glass or bottle.

We booked out Christmes lunch here. The place certainly looked good, a warm welcome, shown to your seat, your chair held, napkins placed. Grace our waitress was lovely, she took our order and the starters arrived, then we waited for our main course, which seemed take a long time in arriving, but we told that hey were having a few delays and apologised, and offered us some drinks.

Don't worry we told them its Christmas, we were in no rush.

Shortly after the main course arrived.

I had heard so much about SA lamb we ordered the lamb. What a disappointment the slices of lamb were about 10mm thick, overdone so they were very dry, I like red meat medium rare, this was medium with no choice. To top it all the lamb was barely warm and the vegetables were not cooked well.
I fail to understand how it takes so long to serve a plate of ready meat and a few vegetables, but it was busy and I understand things don't always go to plan.

Unfortunately I had to sent my plate back, it was returned with the fatty end of the joint, yuk, on a very hot plate, with even worse vegtables.

Not the most memorable Christmas lunch.
