After a 7 hour drive and a traffic violation all we were seeking was a warm welcome and decent accommodation. What we received at Double Dutch far exceeded our expectations. Nathalie and Kate were excellent hosts, attentive, with a local knowledge and contacts which made our stay in Knysna the best of our trip. Perhaps most telling is the degree of respect they have garnered in the town.

Room Tip: Accom is relatively new and grouped in a semi-circle facing the Bay I couldn't see a room with...

We stayed here for 3 nigts last week and didnt want to leave. We were in the Pelican suite which has the most amazing views of the lake. Nathalie and Kate were such lovely attentive hosts. Thank you ladies for suggesting all those excellent restaurants and booking them for us. You have done an amazing job. We truly loved your place and your lovely garden. Next time we are in Knysna we know were we'll be staying.

We had a fantastic three night stay at the Double Dutch and really cannot fault it. This is a very tastefully designed and well run set-up, owned by Kate and Nathalie. The rooms are huge with a lovely indoor seating area, plus patio, and ours (Oystercatcher room) had a fantastic view over the lagoon. Fab bathrooms with walk in shower plus tub. The garden setting is lovely too and as others have said, the pool area is delightful although we did not get chance to use it as we were out and about each day.

The breakfasts are excellent - lots to choose from without being over the top - and my husband maintains that Nathalie does the best omelettes in South Africa! The breakfast room also looks over the lagoon. The guest house is up ahill but walking down to the town or harbour/waterfront is very easy and takes only about 10 mins or so, and then we would simply get a taxi back. We walked back up one day and are both middle aged, so it's doable!

We would definitely return to the Double Dutch and frankly see little point in looking at, let alone trying, other options. If I have a criticism it is that the web site photos do not really do justice to this beautiful place.

Room Tip: The Oystercatcher room has fabulous views over the lagoon. But I think all the rooms are good.

We stayed at the Double Dutch for 4 nights in early February. After reading the great reviews I did have high expectations and they were all exceeded! The lovely Kate and Nathalie are charming hosts, very knowledgeable about the area and run the guest house so well you dont want to leave. The rooms are extremely clean and large. The bathrooms are great with a large bath.
The small pool area is really special and a great way to relax with a drink after a long day sightseeing in and around Knysna.
Breakfast is very good, a nice choice and cooked well. All in all I would not hesitate to stay here again and would recommend this guest house to anyone staying in this area.

The best bed and breakfast we stayed in our our trip to South Africa! Kate and Natalie were super friendly and helpful. My husband still raves about their breakfast omelettes! The room was spacious and had modern decor. We loved the MASSIVE tub and skylight in the bathroom. Our room had a beautiful porch with bayviews on a clear day. I believe the room was called he 'king fsher.' Thanks for making our honeymoon super special. We would recommend this B and B to all our friends and family!
