“Too noisy for me”
Reviewed March 14, 2014

Stayed for 4 nights.
Property is out of town and near the N2, really near the N2, so there is definitely road noise, I had to use ear plugs. Welcome good, room was large enough with good size bathroom (another guest at the time said their room was too small though) The accommodation is chalet style so a lot of wood. View is good.
Property is run by a manageress not the owner, so not a true B&B, although Ester was pleasant and lives on site. The main downside is that most of the rooms radiate off the communal kitchen/dining/lounge area, so if you are not first for breakfast you will be awake anyway from the kitchen noise and conversation that ensues. Equally at the other end of the day if you want an early night other guests may be in the lounge or on the deck and are easily heard, as well as traffic.
Breakfast was good, although on 2 of our 4 days was made by a friend, with hubby and daughter in tow, as Ester had to be away. She did a 'help yourself' affair. On Esters return eggs were cooked to order.
Knysna was easy to get into and is pleasant enough but not really enough to do in the immediate vicinity for 4 days. That said if you are in the area do go to the Elephant park it is wonderful.(we did this on our way to Port Elizabeth, its about half hour from lodge).
Lighting in room and bathroom is poor, the upper windows desperately need a clean and if you are an electrician don't look at the sockets - too many extension leads.

Good honesty bar.

This is a lovely b&b right on the edge of the lagoon. Even though it is just a short drive to downtown Knysa and the waterfront, to the heads and to Brenton on Sea / Buffels Bay, you are in a secluded area with a nice african feeling. Lots of Birds, so great for birding. From the balcony you overlook the lagoon and see the Knysna lights at night in the distance.

Nice and spotlessly clean rooms with great bedding. Room No. 1 is by far the largest and most recommendable. But every other room is also very nice, especially the little loft (no.5).

There is a large lounge and dining area with a fridge where you can store your drinks or buy from the wine stock of your hosts.

Your host are a lovely elderly couple, very friendly and helpful.

We stayed there before and will come definatly again.

A good lodge, just outside the centre of Knysna. The owner is very friendly and the rooms are very clean. From our room we had a nice view on the Knysna lagoon. Good value for money! Wifi and a swimming pool are available

The setting is pure magic, with this charming, wood cabin guest house perched on the tip of the point. Rooms vary in size from enormous to standard, but even the smallest room is charming and there are many sitting areas both indoors and out, so that the views and the bird life can be thoroughly enjoyed. Breakfast is abundantly full-English. Lots to do and see nearby, with a 10% discount coupon offered by the lodge. Almost too much to do, truth be told, as it would have been enough to sit and relax in this incredible setting. Great value. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Could be rented by a whole family and used for holiday reunions.

This lodge is out on a point in the bay, with wonderful views on all sides. The Manager is extremely helpful and they have wine and beer for sale. The bed was comfortable and the tub very nice. What could be better?

We had a very nice stay there. It is pretty far outside the town.

Room Tip: We were in the upper room which had a very low ceiling - a slanted roof. I bumped my head a couple o...

Thank you so much for your review. So sorry about bumping your head - we love the loft room so much it is very special but as you say is a bit low in places. So glad though that the views and beauty out weighed the bump on your head!. We hope to se you back again soon

The Lodge was very comfortable and in a nice quiet location just out of Knysna which I think could have been quite noisy. Esther made us feel very welcome and the sitting area and large balcony gave the opportunity to chat to other guests about things to do in the area and places to avoid which was very helpful. Comfortable beds and a very good breakfast.
