Having never visited Knysna before we were not sure of what we would find. Generally we tend to stay as far out of towns as possible, this lodge did not disappoint. Situated a five minute drive from all the "touristy things" you can escape back to tranquility and peace of Oyster creek. the views from the deck are amazing and you really don't feel that you are in town at all. The room was large and well equipped, with great views over the lagoon. Very clean! A Great place for bird watchers as you can walk (with good boots) along the lagoon shore, with some really good sightings.

Esther and Clive really do out out of their way to make you feel at home. Clive even packed a fire for us to enjoy on a cold windy night. Breakfasts were good and filled you up for the day. We were very fortunate not to have anyone else in the lodge and so had the place to ourselves. i imagine that when full, it could be a bit noisy being a wood cabin. We would most definately return and in all likely-hood take a group of friends or family with; as then you can have the whole lodge which is ideal.

Room Tip: The main suite would be our choice as it seculded from other rooms. we were automatically upgraded t...

My husband and I went to Oyster Creek lodge for a 3 night getaway for our 14th anniversary.
We had such a peaceful, uninterrupted stay at the lodge.
We were treated with such friendly service, and Esther, the hostess who was so warm and motherly, made us feel so at home - not to mention her delicious selection of breakfasts.
Oyster Creek is definitely one of Knysna's 'hidden little treasures' and I cant wait to go back - next time I would like and stay longer...

My family and I stayed in the self catering accom, it was to say the least awful. We stayed out as long as we could as there was no where "TO COME HOME TO" Tiny living room, awful uncomfortable couch to sit on never mind my poor son had to TRY sleep on it ! Old tv with remote with celotape holding batteries in. big old microwave, old 2 platestove and and awful old plastic kettle with a cord and external element. No counter space to do any food preparing, when moving hard bench at dining table the top just fell off, not even attached. Every foot step at the lovely 4 star accomodation upstairs thumps through to us. When in the bathroom you hear the lady open and close drawers and on the phone so she can hear you too. No privacy at all. Flimsy see through lace on kitchen window so all that walk past at night look into your living area. This is supposed to be 4 star and its a one star, showed it to friends and family and they thought awful and they would never stay there. Double bed very uncomfortable. No where to sit outside privately and braai outside you unit, leads on to driveway so cant relax and look at lagoon. Cleaners did good job but oh so unfriendly. The B&B upstairs lovely the self catereing just a forgotten space DESPERATELY in need of modernising and personal touch !!!!! Would NEVER EVER go there again. We were so excited for our holiday and where deeply disappointed with our horrible accomodation, spoiled our holiday !!!!!!

Dear Kerstin
Thank you for your review and feedback. Your review came as a bit of a shock as we pride ourselves in our high standards of accommodation and excellent service. Our little self-catering unit has been enjoyed by many families over the years. This little unit is a budget unit and has never been advertised as one of our 4 star suites. It cannot be compared to one of our BB four star suites either.
We have certainly taken your comments to heart and will look at the unit with fresh eyes and make sure that our customers comfort comes first every time.

Excellent stay again. Ester went out of her way to make us comfortable and ensure the room was suitable for 3ladies traveling together, my overseas friends love it, both the comfort and the fantastic views. The last bit of our two week trip which did not disappoint . Definitely recommend .

Stayed here with an Aunt of mine for 3 days. Room was really nice, bedding was clean and the room was cleaned every day, The room had a lovely view of the Knysna Heads and water. Breakfast was unbelievable and had something of everything, they certainly do go out of their way to 'fill your belly' at the start of the day. Our hosts were very accommodating and did everything to make us feel comfortable.
The pool is VERY small and more of a "dipping pool", if this is the main aim of your stay. Our only gripe was that the room was adjacent to the kitchen and unfortunately we were woken up every morning just after 6am when they came to prepare the breakfast. Other than that I would highly recommend this Lodge to travellers.

This lodge is in fact a large chalet style house made of local timber. The rooms are all on the first floor and are very comfortable. Views are wonderful from rooms that face the estuary, they also have access to a common balcony. I think there is only one room that overlooks the pool at the back. The hosts are some of the nicest people we met in SA, and this really made our stay more enjoyable. The breakfast was excellent and we chatted with other guests around the breakfast table. The small swimming pool is suspended off the ground, and there are no other houses close by. We enjoyed a two night stay here.
