Congratulations Ilsa and her fantastic staff! The new premises is quite fantastic and an incredible setting be it for Breakfast, Coffee or Lunch. The quality of the food and service was excellent and now, with the added dimension of an incredible setting and ambience - you are "simply the best"!!

“Love my artsy coffee.”

This is a great place for coffee and pastry. Chocolate croissants are wonderful, staff friendly and attentive. This is sometimes hard to find in South Africa.

“Mouthwatering!”
Reviewed January 11, 2014 via mobile

Almost dangerous to find this place on our first morning in Knysna. We did have to visit every day as there are so many treats in the bakery which needed sampling. Tough to pick the best but the milk tart just won out over the others!

Sister restaurant to Il de pain on Thesan Island but prefer this one as less pretentious. Can't wait to go back to Knysna so we can keep sampling from this delicious bakery

“Heavenly single lemon cake”
Reviewed December 13, 2013 via mobile

We popped in for Chocolate croissants and they were sold out by 11:00am. Pity! Looked like most things were scrumptious, selling fast and about to go... You need to be early if you want to choose from a selection of your favourite pastries.

We ordered a Lemon cake and it was utterly fabulous. The sugared rinds on top of the tiny circular cake add texture and novelty value. It's got that zinging lemon flavour that will have you return for another one. For this quality of treat it's a snip at R16. Two more please!

The seating area is cafe style with an indoor and outdoor seating choice on offer. Tip: Try and sit outdoors as the ovens heat up the interior muggy atmosphere to a ridiculously hot temperature - enough to kill any appetite. The outside tables are perfect, just like their coffee and friendly service. The staff are friendly and efficient, everyone appears to support each other to ensure that the customer is served to a high standard. Yes, the staff are wonderful!

I recommend this stop when driving through Knysna, along the Garden Route, between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. It's a fairly quick stop, because the service is good, and you feel like you are a few miles away from the N2 road experience. When visiting this place, you definitely get that all important holiday feeling. So, happy Christmas holiday all!!

“My favorite morning spot”
Reviewed October 22, 2013 via mobile

My favorite place for coffee and their savoury tart of the day is too die for! The croissant with rocket, bacon, Brie, pesto and green figs is also a taste sensation! Too delicious!
