Out hotel recommended JJ`s on our first night in Knysna and as i hadn't done any pre prep of restaurants i let them make a reservation for me.

When we arrived, on first viewing our hearts sank a little, but a pleasant touch was the front of house manager (owner) giving us a choice of tables. We opted for the slightly out of the way option which although not in the main part of the restaurant was next to a window overlooking the whole waterfront and a lot less noisy....well it was for a time until a large group descended into a close proximity - but hey....this is a full of fun, vibrant restaurant and not for a quiet or romantic evening.

We were handed a "plastic" menu.......sorry, but i hate plastic menus which also had a million and one offerings which also kind of worries me in restaurants.
Whilst sipping a recommended drop of South African fizz, we both opted for the Kingclip in a white wine & garlic sauce served with Savory rice.......And here`s the thing......IT WAS OUTSTANDING!!
The fish was cooked to absolute perfection with a sauce that wasn't too heavy considering the inclusion of garlic and with savory rice instead of a potato was terrific. In fact we virtually licked our plates clean.

So - don't be put off by the hustle & bustle.....book in advance because this place is probably the best on the Waterfront and is manically busy most nights and do take time to study the menu.
A real surprise and thank you JJ`s

Not a great atmosphere as they crush you in ! Far too many tables - better atmosphere else where - food was ok but over priced compared to other restaurants in the quay

After a disaster at O Pescador what a contrast... Great food, good service and a slick front of house Manager...all in a stunning setting . Good filet steak and tender lamb for Madame. Only gripe was my steak and veg cooled off very quickly but did not detract....May have been a bit slow coming out. I did pass this info to the Mgr as we left and I think it was appreciated. All in all a really good dining experience. Well done JJs

We visited with a group of 9 and had a wonderful evening! The food was delicious and the service we received was quite nice. Later in the evening the stay was made even more pleasant with some live music!

Would definitively recommend the Kingklip, great dish!

I seriously can`t understand the positiv rating. we visited the restaurant at sunday for lunch and just because the other restaurants at the habour mall looked worse. during the waiting time I could have a look on 4 tables around us which should have been cleaned up..after 10 minutes a lady came in with a cleaning bucket in her hands, put it ON the table and started to put the dishes into the bucket ( x 4 times) then she had a look on the tablecloths and just decided to flip it so that the dirty side was on the undersite. I was a bit spechless... how often this is made a day? the pasta was not good at all. the bolognaise sauce tastes self made, but tastes not as it typically does. the pasta itself was overcooked. a bit high priced for south africa. never again.
