“The best stay at our South Africa trip”
Reviewed January 12, 2011

This var really one of the best stays we had during our honeymoon in South Africa. From the moment that we came and met Jaynie and got a very warm welcome until we left three days later. Our room was really nice and cosy and the whole place is soo charmy and it almost feels like you are in the forest. Our room was right next to the pool witch was really nice. The breakfast is lovely and all the staff are truly amazing. They help you with everyting from recommending trips, restaurants and shops. They really know all the places you should visit and it sort of feels like yoy become one in the family just after a couple of days.We hope we will have the chance to come back! We had been looking forward to checking into this Guesthouse since booking it and we were not disappointed. The lush vegetation creates a secluded area for the rooms and a haven for bird life. We were priveleged to see the rare Knysna Lourie in the garden as it regularly feeds off the fig tree in the garden. Jaynie and staff are excellent hosts and knowlegeable about the area, best walks, boat trips, restaurants etc. Two highlights at the guesthouse were 1) the reflexology massage I had on the secluded verhanda of our room, a new experience having the masseuse come to me and the massage in the open air (especially as there was a snow storm back in England at the time), 2) The Sunday lunch and evening meal we had at the Guesthouse. Both meals were excellent and good value for money. We loved Knysna & Bamboo Guesthouse and will certainly be back.

We, family with 2 children, just stayed there 2 nights only in October.Great great special place and just like to want a B6B to be. You are part of the ''family'' , if you want . If you do not want , you are still very welcome and pampered.. Janie and Gordon love theri B6B and love it to have people around. They made their houses and garden a real paradise within the garden route. Very special garden, nice bar and fireplace, nice room swith typical african decoration, They just love to have guests around them.and are really caring about each of them, making everything possible, also very spontaneously :-) and having good advices for the area as well. We met a lot of other people from all over the world there and spend a nice time with them as well.(feels like a backpacker-hotel for ''older'' ones) . The place was nearly fully booked although is was not even main season, so we recommend to book in advance.. You have to go to this place. We will definitely come back . !!

Tired and weary, we arrived at Bamboo to be welcomed by a bubbling hostess, lovely Jaynie, and her partner Gordon, who immediately made us feel at home, offering us cocktails and even taking us out for supper to nearby local-hangout, Mo's. Everything was fantastic at this place - from the massage in our room, to homemade savoury breakfast pancakes and muesli, to decor, cleanliness, and the dogs - Naddie and Forest. :)

Bamboo Guesthouse is a wonderful place to relax.
Each room has it's own private garden where you can sit back and watch all the birds and the beautiful flowers.
Jaynie and her team are great.
We love the Malvapudding!
If you go there, make sure to stay the Monday evening for dinner.

We stayed in the honeymoon suite which was beautiful and charming. Huge bath made it even more romantic. Comfotable bed with plenty of pillows as well as a nice little terrace to relax. Setting was very peaceful, surrounded by lush greenery! Breakfast was excellent and service very good. Overall excellent value for money!

We planned to stay in Knysna for 1 night, but as soon as we got to Bamboo we knew we would stay longer! The rooms are so cosy and well thought out with big fluffy duvets and cushions, fire places and your own private decks - and each room is unique so has its own different character.
Jaynie, Gordon, Marilee and Pierce went out of their way to help us and it didn't take long to feel like we were part of the family! They organised golf and activities for us, and recommended and booked places to stay on our onward journey.
We would thoroughly recommend Bamboo to anyone - we loved it and had such a laugh with such bubbly and vivacious hosts!
It has a special sense of quirkiness and fun which we failed to find anywhere else. We so hope to come back one day!
