We dined at Firefly on a lovely summer's evening on our way home from George airport. The restaurant has a fabulous location in an old converted house, painted bright red and situated on the edge of the Knysna estuary. You can sit both inside or out.The tables are beautifully laid with damask tablecloths and heavy silver cutlery. The waitress was knowledgable and brought us 2 tiny cups of spiced tea,an amuse bouche and steaming hot handtowels to start. There is a variety of daily specials.
We started with 2 cocktails that were both made with fresh berries and herbs. They were absolutely mouth watering. We did not have starters, but the springrolls looked very appetizing. The service is professional and not at all intrusive.I chose a prawn curry and my husband had a beef curry. Both dishes were beautifully presented and both flavourful and fragrant.I do not like very hot food and this was absolutely spot on for me.It was more about the combination of flavours than about the degree of heat.
This is a sophisticated restaurant for a night out with friends or as a couple. Not recommended for children. The owner is very knowledgeble and friendly.definitely worth a visit if you are in Knysna for a weekend or holiday.
