We stayed two nights. It is in An excellent position and fantastic views. There is a For Sale sign and the Guest House is clearly on the wind down. There was no honesty bar and the fridge was full of defrosted water. Maintenance seems to be a problem - flaking paint and taps dripping and thin towels. The rooms were spacious and clean. The manager was helpful about the area. Breakfasts were good.

Me and my wife visited Augusta Bay in Sept 2013. The place was recommended by our friend, who had stayed there so we were quite confident. The rooms and bathroom were spacious and well kept. We were offered complimentary Sherry and home-made cookies upon arrival in our room. We were slightly disappointed with the bed linen as it has stains on it. However, we had mentioned this to our hostess Liya, who personally came to our room and changed it for us. Liya was a great hostess. She took care of all our needs and made our stay comfortable. She took care of all our requests (no matter how big or small) and also arranged all our tours and sight seeing excursions around Kynsna. She also ensured we got discounts where applicable. Most of all we enjoyed the freshly cooked breakfast including flavored yogurt & fruits etc. Thanks Augusta Bay Team!!

We stayed 3 nights at the Augusta Bay and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Our room was enormous with fantastic views of the Heads and the bay, always a changing vista.Unlike a number of other reviewers we saw no evidence of lack of maintenance and the Staff were very friendly and helpful. There are a good cafe and restaurant overlooking the Heads within 2 mins walk, but a car is really needed .Knysna ,especially the waterfront is definitely aimed at tourists, but a plus point is that the town centre has a nice relaxed feel.

Room Tip: We went for a delux room ,the added expense was minimal and the room was excellent

I made all the bookings for our holiday so my husband was in for a surprise. He loved this accommodation and felt that he was living the high society life. :-) Thank you to the staff of Augusta Bay for making our stay a memorable one. Breakfasts were lovely and what a spread to choose from. Definitely worth staying at Augusta Bay.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Augusta National Room. Large room with lovely views of the Knysna estuary. It also...

The first impression of Augusta Bay was amazing. Very large "room" or more appartement with a bedroom, sitting room, hallway and 2 bathrooms. It als had fantastic views of the heads and the lagoon. At second sight not everything was that great. In short it looks as if no maintenance or fixing up was done in the last few years. The window couldn't close and I had it almost in my hands, the toilet-seating was loose, an opening to the attic couldn't been closed,...
What made it for me a desastruous stay was the fact I even couldn't use the batrooms, because there was no water. When I called the owner at 21u, she said it was work of the municipality on the waterpipes she forgot to mention and everything would be restored in an hour. She said she forgot to inform us about that. Even the next morning there was no water, which she blamed on an airbubble in the pipes of the building. Whatever the cause or reason might have been, we had to pay the full price without being even able to wash ourselvers or flush the toilets.

It is not 5 star, more like 2 star with a view. The whole place needs a good spring clean repairs done, and new linen. Otherwise all fine, rooms are a good size. The house is at the Knysna Heads so you cannot walk to town, there is a restaurant and a cafe close by though for fine dining one would have to go elsewhere.
