This is an unusual restaurant with an entry though a bookshop. The menu is not extensive but this is a great advantage as everything is fresh and beautifully prepared. Probably the best seared tuna I have ever had! The wine list is limited but is representative of the surrounding area and so perfectly adequate. The atmosphere is particularly friendly and it is obvious that it is well patronised by local people. I liked the way that they were happy to discuss the way the food had been prepared and it is clear that the owners take a great pleasure in providing delicious food. Small so advisable to book ahead.

Not really hard to find but you do need a little map. Such a great and jolly welcome, delicious food in a quirky setting. The asparagus risotto was great and the fish pie was pronounced ten out of ten.

My mom treated myself and a friend of hers to The Barefoot Cook one very cold, rainy Friday night in September. My mom has been raving about the place- and I now see why. Definitely a winner! I am a sucker for a good Risotto - and when I saw Mussel Risotto on the menu board - my mind had been made up! The other two ordered the crispy duck - absolutely beautiful! Had lots of good red wine, amazing food, excellent & friendly service - i would highly recommend The Barefoot Cook. Mark my words though: MAKE A BOOKING!
