We deiced to take a weekend break for our 5 year anniversary. We were greeted by Annemarie upon arrival and she then surprised us by upgrading our room to the pool room so that we could celebrate in style. Really amazing that she did that for us. Just started our break on the right track.

Everything about The Potting Shed is homely, comfortable and friendly.Dave was always on hand to help us out when we needed it. Our first visit, but definitely not our last.

Breakfast was always a treat. Cooked to perfection and served to us like we were Kings and Queens. Easy to find the place as well. Always helps when you've been driving a while. Ten out of Ten for Annemarie and Dave and their beautiful Potting Shed.

Room Tip: Choose the room by the pool. Very private and lots of space.

In February 2012 we did a two week trip to south africa, starting at Cape town, and then driving east by car, with a stop at the winelands. The first weeks stops we had planned in advance, but for the 2nd week we had no exact plan. So come that we were looking for a nice accommodation at some place at the coast on the internet, and that’s how we found “The potting shed” in Hermanus. The original plan was to stay there for two nights and then drive further east. In the end we had a five day stay there because we loved being there and had a wonderful time at Annamarie and Davids place.

Annamarie and David gave us a very very warm welcome on arrival. They provided us with loads of information what to do in Hermanus. There are so many options in and around Hermanus, and Annamarie did a phone call and arranged everything for us immediately after we made the decision what to do - Annamarie and David are very helpful. Both of them had a lot “insider recommendations” what to do, so we sorted out very quickly what we definitely wanted to do.

Rooms are proper in size, nicely decorated, very clean, and there is a pool. WiFi Hot-Spot in the dining area, where a very delicious breakfast is served. You can choose between a cooked breakfast with ham and eggs, or homemade pancakes. If you wish to there is fruit salad, yoghurt and bread.
We can absolutely recommend the pancakes, which are served with a delicious house made lemon curd. There is a list of restaurant recommendations from Annamarie and David, some of which we visited and liked them a lot (especially the cocktail bar “Geckos” at the New Harbour).

City center, restaurants, the sea, everything is in walking distance from their place.

Our highlight was a sea kayak trip that Annamarie had been organising for us. In winter Hermanus is very famous for best landbased whale whatching, while in summer it is very unlikely to see a whale at all. When we came to the meeting point at the old harbour, we saw a group of about 400 dolphins, probably thanks to a sardine shoal in the bay, and 4 Brydes whales, which are very rare and very unlikely to be seen. Our guide was very excited as well. This kayak tour was just amazing. We got a lot of information about sealife in this region, and we got to see the “big five of the sea”: whale, dolphin, penguin, shark and seal. Absolutely great!

The oher things we did:
- Horseback riding at the Paradis ranch (as well orgnizes by Annamarie)
- A speedboat trip to Abbey road with shark-watching, visiting a seal colony etc.
Some good dining, a day at the beach doing just nothing.

Annamarie and David were excellent hosts, never invasive, but always there if we had questions (we had a lot!), and organizing everything for us in within a second. They have a lot of helpful connections in Hermanus, so they will always know someone/something to do/someplace to go.
In the end, we extended our stay, because we had such a good time there!

We would always come back und can highly recommend this B&B!

Really nice place to stay. Not in the city centre, maybe 10 minutes walk from there, which is quite pleasant. Annemarie was very helpful, she gave us a lot of information about places around. They have Wi-Fi access in the lodge.
And beakfast is amazing! Pancakes and different jams are just great!

From beginning to end, Annamarie and Dave proved to be friendly and helpful hosts - the overseas booking process was simple, efficient and even provided driving instructions and tourist info; their service (along with their staff) was attentive throughout; and a nice touch was their email after returning home. As the weather in Hermanus was poor, we particularly appreciated Dave's top advice for alternate whale viewing, where we delighted in a few hours of land-based watching - eventually having to tear ourselves away.

We loved our stay at the Potting Shed - so peaceful and relaxing. Our room was spotless with tea/coffee making, in-room safe and ceiling fans; and whilst brightly painted and trimmed in white (loved the touch of fresh lavender sprigs on the bed), was a little dark - however, the weather probably didn't help and I imagine that it could be appreciated on a very hot day. Consequently, we didn't get to use the charming little pool which must be pleasing on a balmy evening. Breakfast was lovely - in a bright and cheerful room, freshly and well made without being heavy, but plentiful to set you up for the day - what I like to call a 'clean' breakfast.

In a very good location with easy access, off-street parking and within a short walking distance of town and it's restaurants, preferably along the cliff walk.

I couldn't believe my luck when I found The Potting Shed online, and promptly cancelled our much more expensive hotel reservation Very pleased that I did, as I had no regrets at all - and neither will you.

I stayed at the Potting Shed with my girlfriend when we were out in SA for a wedding in Spring 2012. It was an extremely enjoyable visit. The couple that own the place are extremely friendly and happy to help out wherever possible. The room was very nicely appointed and extremely clean. We made use of the sweet little pool a couple of times during our stay. Breakfasts were delicious and plentiful with fresh fruit always on the menu, along with the usual continental and cooked breakfast options. It is very well located within Hermanus, just a short walk from the centre of town. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Hermanus in the future.

We stayed here for a night and would've liked to stay longer to explore Hermanus more as it seems like a very nice town. Our room was lovely, the bathroom was quite small but it served it's purpose. Breakfast was good with a choice of cooked breakfast or home made pancakes. The owner was very helpful with local information and tips for were to visit - if you get the chance, go and see the penguins at Betty's Bay. From the B&B you can walk along the cliff path to the centre of town were there are a few nice restaurants.

I was on business in Hermanus. About the Potting Shed Accommodation I can write only well.
Good location, good conditions for rest and work, available wireless Internet.
I liked breakfast served here. It was proposed scrambled or fried eggs, I like eggs.
Annemarie and Dave are open and ready for any assistance.
Only surprise for me was that I had to prepay 100% to company cooperating with Potting Sheed some weeks before arrival.
There were small difficulties to obtain invoice for 100% payment.
However Annemarie and Dave helped me in this matter too.
