We loved staying here and routinely return every year. It is a 'home away from home' and manages to capture that homely and warm atmosphere. delicious breakfasts.

We arrived to find that we had been booked into 2 restaurants and were immediately intimidated by the hostess. One of the 2 restaurants was filthy and an unpleasant experience. Our experience was that there were many good restaurants, choose your own! Breakfast was poor and limited choice. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. Overall we thought that our stay was poor value for money - there are better and more welcoming places to stay.

Stayed 2 nights
Our stay at Les Baleines was really enjoyable. Teresa our host was so kind and helpful, she had booked a resturant for us that evening which we appreciated.
We were upgraded and our room was beautiful with a large bed and lounge area with sliding doors out to the deck and pool. The deck had plenty of sunbeds and table and chirs for that eveing drink, the pool was small but perfect after a day of walking. The view over looking the bay was fantastic.
The bathroom was stylish and a good size. Tea and coffee making facilities.
The guest lounge comfy sofas was large with a snooker table and honesty bar,
Breakfast was really good which set you up for the day.
Teresa asked if you needed help or suggestions on what you wanted to do for the day.
You could walk to the beach but only if you like walking back up the very steep hill.
From the house you can walk the coastal path to Hemanus or walk part of the mountain and then down onto the path, we walked the mountain and costal path to Hemanus and back tireing but great.
There was a upper deck for guests with a library and lounge and chairs.
Teresa hope your hubby is on the mend!

We booked this Guest House through TrailFinders for our honeymoon in Sept 2011. We stayed here 2 nights. On arrival we were met at reception by the porter(Oscar) who was great and carried our bags to the room. The owner had pre-booked us for dinner in a local Italian restaurant and for a whale watching trip the next morning. Both the restaurant and whale watching trip could be easily cancelled or changed if they didn't suit. The restaurant was fab and we ended up eating there both nights.

Guest house was extremely quiet with no staff on site overnight. The guest house consisted of 2 separate houses joined by a back garden area. On our 2nd night there was only us staying in our house with 1 other couple in the other house. We ended up locking all the doors in our house as we felt a little bit unsafe and detached from the main house.

Location wise, quite far from the town and not easy to find.

This B&B is a very acceptable place to spend a night. The owner was very helpful, and the facilities in the hotel are good. It is all decorated in a very particular style -- every surface covered in pattern and/or tassels -- but it's of a high standard and very clean. Breakfast is good and the snooker table was a good feature. Our bedroom had access to the shared balcony, and while the doors have reflecting surfaces it doesn't feel private. It also had a lot of noise from the lounge right outside the door.

Room Tip: Don't go for the room off the lounge/breakfast room

We visited here for 2 nights on our trip to SA. Our room was comfortable with a bacony looking out to sea. The place was spotless and the breakfast very good. The owner Teresa booked us at two restaurants and a whale watching trip. These were optional and easily cancelled. We went to the restaurants and both were very good and resonably priced. She arranged a taxi for us and the taxi picked us up to return us to the hotel. It was an excellent choice and couldn't fault the level of service

This was the hotel we were looking forward to the least on our 3 week honeymoon, but it turned out to rival most of the others that we stayed at in South Africa. It is a little way out of Hermanus but we actually preferred that. The rooms were lovely, very comfortable, great bathroom and decorated to a very high standard. The lounges and pool area were lovely and the staff were extremely friendly. The restaurant they had booked for us was fantastic and very reasonable. All in all it was a fabulous place to stay.
