Lavender Manor was stunning. The rooms are first class as were the breakfasts. The house is some 10 mins outside of the main town but overlooks the bay with a stunning beach a couple of minutes away. There is an roof terrace from where you can watch the whales. Unfortunately we were a few days late as most of the whales had departed the bay and were heading south. There are plenty of good restaurants in town and can be reached by a 10 mins tuk-tuk ride. The return trip for 2 people was 100 rand and you don't have to book a return time as the restaurant will ring the tuk-tuk and arrange fro them to pick you up.

We spent two nights in Hermanus on 6/7 November staying at Lavender Manor. The guest house is in an ideal location on the outskirts of the town facing Grotto Beach. We were welcomed by Isabel and taken to our room (no 2) which had a lovely large decked balcony where we enjoyed the most delicious coffee and biscuits brought up by Isabel. The bedroom was beautifully furnished with a large comfy bed and plenty of wardrobe space. The bathroom was enormous with a separate bath and shower cubicle and lots of large fluffy towels. The guest lounge is on the first floor with lovely views across to Grotto Beach. A large balcony is attached from where we watched several whales in the bay. Everywhere was immaculately clean. The breakfasts were gorgeous with everything from fruit, yoghurt and cereal to a full cooked breakfast. Isabel and Kobus were fantastic friendly hosts and we were made to feel at home straight away. Should we ever return to Hermanus we will definitely stay at Lavender Manor and cannot recommend it highly enough.

I am currently on the balcony of Lavender Manor whale watching and enjoying a glass from the honesty bar. The view is spectacular. The ocean on one side and the most magnificent mountains on the other. We arrived 2 days ago and were warmly met by Isobel, the owner. We later met Kobus , her husband, both of whom made us feel so welcome. Nothing is too much trouble to this couple.
I would recommend Room 2, as it has a huge veranda, perfect for a glass in the late afternoon. Isobel and Kobus have thought of everything - bathrobes, flannels, shower gel, shampoo, fresh towelling, hair dryer and much more. They even turn down the bed with a chocolate!
I'm afraid we have to leave tomorrow, but I have no difficulty in advising a visit to what is probably the best B&B I have ever stayed in.
I forgot to mention the Southern Right whales. I'm looking at them right now! Fabulous.
Thank you Kobus and Isobel. Until the next time

We arrived at the Guest House on a dull rainy afternoon but we were given a warm welcome and bags were quickly taken to our room - a beautiful room. It was tastefully decorated and nicely furnished. Lovely modern bathroom. Sadly the weather did not enable us to make use of the balcony with its sea view. Our host was a mine of information on local things to see and do. We had an excellent breakfast and there was no problem providing me with marmite toast for my perfectly poached egg. My husband voted the coffee first rate. The guest house is a little out of time, but this is no problem as a tuk-tuk provides a service to and from the centre..We made use of this when we went for out for dinner - there is no restaurant service in the evening. First class!

We spent three nights in early September in this lovely B&B. The hosts were incredibly helpful with suggestions for places to see, restaurants, and activities. They made reservations for us, provided maps and insight into the local area. They provided the right amount of interest and help without being intrusive. Lavender Manor is just a couple of blocks from the cliff walk, which we took each day into town. Breakfast was very good, with both cold and made to order hot dishes. Very nicely appointed room and bathroom. Although it is outside of town and we had a car, we opted to use the tuk-tuk several times for dinner, which the hosts arranged for us. A lovely experience.

Our second visit and same very high quakity throughout.Front rooms overlook the Atlantic and offer the chance of spotting whales in the bay June to Nov and rear rooms have mountain view.Internal decor is of highest standard and rooms have every amenity and several very nice additional touches. The husband and wife team are very friendly and helpful and will book restaurants etc and give good advice if needed. They helped us to find a quiet bay some 30 kilometres away where we found severak whales away from the crush of Hermanus on the peak weekend of the year.A restaurant they suggested and booked for us was also excellent.Breakfast is first class with choice of english or buffet style.
Altogether,you won't find a better B and B anywhere.

Room Tip: room 1 overlooks the ocean with views of whales in season
