This is one of the best hotels that I have stayed at in the world. It is just an amazing experience from beginning to end. The location, the quality of the accommodation and especially the food surpasses all expectation. The real gold is the staff.

I think it is a special piece of heaven and I am truly grateful to have experienced such an "out of the top drawer" retreat for the 2nd time!
Thank you to one and all!

Room Tip: ask for number 1 or 2

This hotel is one of the most romantic places I have ever visited. From the moment we arrived, we were amazed at the natural setting and beauty around us. The hotel itself is whimsically decorated, with a beach/ shabby chic feel. You can actually sit on the back porch of the hotel and watch whales breaching the water! Laying out on a chaise lounge, sipping a cappuccino, and feeling the sun on my face - I am relaxed just thinking about Birkenhead house! When we arrived, we were told that we were the only guests at the hotel and could have our pick of the rooms....literally we were shown each room and asked to pick our favorite. Our room was decorated with rose petals, complete with a bottle of champagne, delicious snacks, and fresh fruit. I cannot imagine a more perfect experience. Thank you to the hardworking and wonderful staff who helped us with our stay - we can't wait to return someday.

Room Tip: we had an amazing room with a private plunge pool!

From the moment we arrived the service was excellent. Within 10 mins a glass of champers in hand and we were watching whales breach in the sea. Fantastic! A beautiful location right on the water, rooms are fabulous. An unbelievable stay. The attention to detail is incredible. Staff don't hold back with drinks, food or service! I would recommend people staying 3 nights in order to get to do everything the area has to offer. Walking into town by the cliff path, walking up Fernkloof Mountain, kayaking, wandering around the village, walking the sea paths. Everyone makes you feel very spoilt - thank you so much especially Shane and Christie for making our stay so memorable. Great way to finish off a holiday.

Room Tip: All rooms are great - room 1 has the best view

Good points
- beautifully appointed rooms, with amazing views of the bay. From the sun deck, the restaurant and living room you can watch the whales play.
- it is not cheap but it's an all inclusive hotel. So all wine, spirits, tea and coffees etc, and all meals are included. The staff don't hold back and kept on pouring and offering us food and drinks to us throughout our stay.
- staff are very cheerful and helpfuland tell you about the different things to do around Hermanus.

Not so good:
- nothing that I can really think of! We would have liked to stay for longer but there was a wedding the week after and the whole hotel was booked out by the wedding party.

Overall, five out of five.

Im not sure how to descibe the experience of staying here. Very special, unique, relaxing pampered, spoilt...... are all words that come to mind. We loved it. We booked room two, so we could see the sea from two views. It wasnt the biggest room, but the views were amazing. The staff were fantastic, and looked after us beyond expectations, whilst still being delightful. Nothing seemed too much trouble, including bringing cushions out to the loungers when we wanted to watch the sea, and whales, in a strong wind.... and then coming out to check if we were ok and wanted anything to drink! It was also my husbands birthday, and they gave him a surprise present and baked a yummy chocolate cake. We will definitely go back. The location is perfect for enjoying the cliff path, beach and sea. Smart but not formal. great if you want to chill for few days. The decor is beautiful, and the staff very informative. The all inclusive idea is great. No nasty surprise at the end. Thankyou

Room Tip: Room two has pole position for views, but not large
