Anchor's Rest offers very nice and clean studios close to the seaside. Quiet neighborhood, 5 minutes drive from the citycenter. Very helpful host. Hermanus is only attractive in the whale season; without whales it's just a tourist-town with not so much to offer.

We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us but feel it is such a pity that you did not discover some of the many diverse and unique attractions Hermanus and environs have to offer. Thank you for drawing our attention to this. We really hope you that you do visit Hermanus again and have a wonderful time, even if it is not the whale season.

Brilliant place, fantastic location with great hosts, always spotlessly clean, friendly and wouldn't stay anywhere else. Have stayed three times before this visit and hope stay there for many trips to come. Thank you Guy and Hilary

The owner gave us a very warm welcome. The room was nicely decorated and comfortable. As all the places where we stayed in south Africa everything was spotless clean.
What we especially liked is that the hotel is located near the cliff path. A nice walk along the coast.
It is also close to the new harbour from where you can go on whale watching boat tours.
For some people people it might be a disadvantage that the place is a little further out of town. For us it wasn't a problem as we had a rental car.

What amazing accommodation, a real bargain. Guy the owner makes you very welcome and then leaves you to enjoy your stay. My husband and I and two other couples stayed here for two nights. Four of us stayed in the Starfish room which comprised a large lounge/bedroom/kitchen area with a separate twin bedroom. The other couple were in the loft room (Seagulls) and were amazed at the size of the accommodation. The property has a secluded garden with a small pool and the facilities were perfect. The location is a couple of minutes walk to the coastal path leading into the town centre which is about a mile away. We didn't have breakfast there, but there were facilities if you wanted to make your own or fully cater for yourselves.

As well as the accommodation, the town of Hermanus itself is lovely. Within minutes of arriving we saw whales right in front of us as we walked along the cliff path. We ate a lovely meal at The Bistro, almost the first restaurant we came to. The next day we drove into Hermanus and parked in a free parking spot quite close to the town itself. We couldn't really understand how the paying parking worked!! Only that it is free after 5pm and on Sundays. We ate a fantastic breakfast at The Burgundy and again saw whales right in front of us and spent most of the day walking along the cliff path and stopping quite a lot watching more. The second day we decided to eat at The Burgundy again, and the owner(?) Celia remembered us and almost exactly what we had ordered the day before! Excellent customer service!

As well as whale watching, there is a little craft market and lots of other shops and restaurants in the town.

Stayed for the fourth time and once again guy and Hillary gave us a fantastic stay. We were in starfish this time, a massive room. Outstanding housekeeping, lovely staff and two fantastic owners who make you feel part of the family. I simply cannot recommend anchors rest highly enough.

Room Tip: Any, all are private and beautifully furnished and maintained.

We stayed in Starfish which had a double bed in the main room and a twin bedroom. Small kitchen area and sitting area with TV. Nice little pool and sunbathing area at the back. Can't comment on breakfast as we made our own. Good sized bathroom, parking with a secure gate at the front and best of all just a couple of minutes walk to a coastal path for walks. Would recommend.

My wife and I stayed here with another couple for five nights in March, combining two of the units to make a twio bedroomed, two bathroom apartment. We were more than happy with our choice. The property has a secluded garden with a small pool and the facilities in the units are perfect. The location is less than a five minute walk to the coastal path leading into the town centre and we can thoroughly recommend it.
