“A family run restaurant on a lovely farm with fabulous views”
Reviewed March 8, 2012

This was our first visit to Mogg's and although it is in the middle of nowhere it is a must visit restaurant. Having driven accross some unmade roads, if coming from Franschhoek, you arrive at a very rustic house set amongst beautiful tall trees with a wonderful terrace facing the valley. You are given a very warm welcome by the owner, and the rest of the small staff, and the inside of the restaurant is more like a rural home with wonderful paintings, some painted by the owner, covering the walls. The menu is a selection of freshly cooked, delicious and full of wonderful flavours, seasonal food, a fabulous lunch was had by all and if it was closer we would be back for lunch each week but alas we will have to wait until next year.

“Off the beaten (and I mean beaten) track!!”
Reviewed February 24, 2012

The food here is fantastic. But actually getting here can be a bit of a struggle. Be prepared for a rough ride over the farm track leading to this rustic restaurant. It is certainly well worth it when you get there. The country food is always fresh and tasty with lots of lovely flavours to ensure that you will want to return.

“My most favourite restaurant ANYWHERE!”
Reviewed February 21, 2012

When we first went to Moggs, it was a dirt road ALL the way. Times are achanging! But Moggs never does. Always, always just wonderful. Food & ambience are just unbeatable. Just wish it was on our doorstep - I'd be banging on the door every day!!!

“Phew what a scorcher!”

Sunday lunch at Moggs - 35 degrees!
Based up in the mountains at Hemel en Arde, there is some off road driving!!
Go early and make sure you book to get an outside table.
Food was exquisite and staff very friendly and helpful. Now licensed.

“Delectable food in a charming location”
Reviewed February 7, 2012

The CookHouse is most original. The interior pretty and decorated and the outdoor tables under the verandah overlook the lovely gardens. There is a wonderful choice of unusual and appetising combinations. I chose the grilled calamari salad followed by beef fillet. Unfortunately i can't remember the accompaniments now save to say that they were really delicious. Its a must if you like to lunch in rural retreats. The service is delightful. A very personal family run place who take pride in their menu. Reservation essential. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
