“The food matched the welcome.”

Reserved a table shortly after arriving in Town for 2 nights just prior to Easter. Restaurant busy, inside and outside but warm welcome and excellent service throughout the evening - very attentive. Simple meal of prawn tails followed by Hake but both very good.
Reserved a table for following evening before we left.
Welcomed back - by name! - very impressive. Had excellent Kingclip (by recommendation/catch of the day) with pea puree and roasted buttersquash.. Lovely, relaxed evening with equally excellent attentive service.
There is a lot of choice of eateries in Hermanus but you could do much worse then to eat here.

“seafood heaven”
Reviewed May 17, 2014

The weathet was bad last week in Hermanus but their homely oyster soup and bread was too comforting and for mains we had a Loaded seafood platter with crayfish at a very good prize I was amazed. There was a youngish guy who served us Top service.

“Homely character”
Reviewed May 8, 2014

Situated within an authentic fisherman's cottage, this restaurant has a rustic warmth to it. There was a cosy log fire burning and the hot chocolate was good. My husband ordered their Cape Malay Lamb Curry that tasted quite bland since it was more like a thick meaty stew lacking the rich, deep flavour of masala and other curry spices. My Traditional Bobotie was also a bit tasteless, but the fruit chutney on the side, as well as scrumptious cinnamon butternut fritters compensated for that. The savoury rice was somewhat of a surprise to me since it was sprinkled with toasted coconut and I am not fond of the latter. The Fisherman's Cottage has quite an extensive menu for seafood lovers though and is a popular venue for the locals.

“Stunning lunch”
Reviewed April 23, 2014

My partner and I have just had the most delicious lunch at the Fishermans Cottage. We decided to try their unusual salads. The sweet potato salad was amazing,as was their grilled vegetable salad. It really was a lunch filled with the most amazing taste sensations. Just wish we lived closer and could go there more often.

“Best sea food on our trip”
Reviewed April 22, 2014

My wife and I ate here last week and shared the sea food platter, we both agreed that this has been the best sea food and platter we have had!!!! It was amazing!!! If we had been in Hermanus another night we would have been back for it again. The only problem we now have is we have order platters in other restaurants and they have not come close to being as good.
