We visited the Savannah Cafe on our last evening in Hermanus - 9th November. We were recommended by our B&B who said the food was as good as the fashionbable Harbour Rock Cafe, with lower prices and better service.
The ambience is quite good - nice decoration and will be improved when the nearby building work is completed. The location is a little hard to find if you're unfamiliar with the road layout - but this will improve next month when a new shopping centre and car park opens.
The food was indeed very good and the menu quite sophisticated, and the service both efficient and friendly. On a couple of occasions the chef/owner came out and spoke to his customers - a very nice touch. If there had been anything disappointing about the meal I am sure he would have discovered it and put it right - but it really was fine.
Prices were about 15-20% below the Harbour Rock - which has a better view/location but very variable food and service (also reviewed in Tripadvisor).
On departure we were given a business card and a request to submit a review to Tripadvisor - another nice touch. If back in Hermanus, I'd go back to the Savannah Cafe.
