“Breathtaking view, warm service with personal touches & incredible breakfast!”
Reviewed August 22, 2012

My boyfriend and I stayed at 138 Marine Beachfront guesthouse for our 5 year aniversary. We received such a warm welcome and were made so comfortable from the moment we arrived. Beth and Jena are both so lovely and made every effort to make our stay special. The breakfast was also amazing and very generous (the French toast was out of this world!), which we enjoyed while taking in the amazing view of the ocean visible from the dining room/lounge. I would definitely go back! :)

Wonderful place with an amazing view on the ocean and also really quiet. Delicious breakfast. You will also get good advices about what to do, where to eat ... Everything was perfect. I will definitely try to come back.

We stayed at 138 Marine Guesthouse for three nights (Aug 10-12). The owners and staff were as amazing as the accommodations. We had two rooms for a family of four, which worked out well. The rooms were nicely appointed and the attention to details was beyond our expectations - fresh flowers, nightly weather reports and sweets, complimentary drinks and breakfasts with fresh fruits, drinks, cereals, and a different gourmet hot choice each morning. Additionally, Beth made us dinner reservations in advance as we were arriving late and on a holiday weekend. There are many great choices to eat in the immediate area. The views from our rooms and the beautiful common areas are worth the price alone. We highly recommend 138 Marine Guesthouse and would not hesitate to return.

We stayed for 2 nights on a 3 week holiday and this was one of many B&Bs that we used. Brilliant location, lovely room and the most fabulous breakfast. Plenty of tips from Jena, lovely sea front walks/runs and some excellent restaurant tips. We couldn't have asked any more other than some whales in the Bay ...... but they were down the road. Would definately go again.

Jena and Louis welcomed us into their warm, luxurious home on a cold and rainy day. Jena had upgraded our room because it was a less busy day for them, which we greatly appreciated. Jena gave us the most fantastic tips of where to go and where to eat. She went out of her way to assist us with makings bookings and giving directions.

The rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished. We spent the evening reading by the fire and sipping sherry. It was so relaxing.

The breakfast was absolutely superb. Excellent coffee and the lightest, fluffiest omelette I have ever eaten. Fabulous! The staff were friendly and extremely helpful.

I have no complaints at all. I wish we had stayed longer.

Room Tip: The oyster room has the most fabulous view. Even the bath has a great view!

We spent a couple of nights at 138 marine and were impressed with pretty much everything about our stay. The rooms were beautifully done up with attention to all the little details, like finding a printed out weather forecast for the next day on your bed with some lovely candy. When we arrived, we realised that our 8 year old son hadn't been recorded in the booking, but we were accommodated with zero fuss. All through, Jena and Louis were amazing hosts, giving us great recommendations for what to do around Hermanus and where to eat. I was struck by the tireless way in which they tended to the guests, making sure everything's okay. Louis even apologized for a small scratch in an armchair that I couldn't detect! The property itself is about a 20 minute drive from Hermanus town in Sandbaai - a beautiful location with a stunning view of the seafront. When we left, it was like saying goodbye to friends.

We stayed recently at 138 Marine and, without question, it is the best B&B experience we have ever had. The home is exquisitely decorated and could not be better situated to allow you to enjoy the ocean views. However, by far the best thing about 138 Marine, is the warmth and care lavished upon guests by Jena and Louis. We arrived as guests and left (much too soon) as friends.
