Constantia Palms
Ranked #29 of 40 Constantia B&B and Inns

I stayed at Constantia Palms for one night. The guest house has a central location in Constantia. Constantia is a stunning upmarket neighbourhood in Cape Town within close proximity to some excellent wine farms and Kirstenbosch Gardens. There are some very good restaurants in Constantia and the views are spectacular.

Please note that no signage is visible upon arrival but Gerrie will probably welcome you and show you the secure parking available.

The room is beautifully furnished and the attention to detail is impressive. I specifically appreciated the bath salts, Oral B tootbrush charger, the quality of the bedding, the coffee and the large bathroom (a bath and shower is available). A full range of toiletries are provided in the bathroom.

A hair dryer, fan, coffee and tea making facility and magazines are provided in the room. The position of the mirror in the room makes it very convenient when using the hairdryer. The room also has ample cupboard space. The bed was very comfortable. Please bring your own gown should this be required.

My room had a sliding door leading to a private patio with a beautiful garden view.

Breakfast the next morning was served at the desired time. I was very impressed with the flair with which the breakfast was presented. The breakfast room has a pleasant view on the pool and a tropical garden.

The room was very clean and I would not hesitate staying here on another business trip.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a private patio.

The B&B is located in a suburban neighborhood south of Cape Town, a good location to visit Kirstenbosch Gardens, False Bay beaches and towns, and the Cape of Good Hope area. It is also only about 20 minutes from downtown Cape Town although we enjoyed staying in the city for that part of our trip. Half of the house is lived in by the owners and the other half is set up with 4 lovely guest rooms, each with their own private outdoor area. A swimming pool is available for use as well. The rooms were immaculately clean and attractively decorated. Breakfast is ordered to taste the night before and served on your schedule with plenty of excellent choices. The owner, Gerrie, was extremely helpful with many suggestions and booked anything we asked for us. He was also very accommodating for our late check-out. There is a restaurant within walking distance but a car is really necessary for enjoying the area. Constantia is a beautiful, relatively safe town where walking trails and horses abound, as well as wineries with great restaurants.

This is not the first time we have stayed at this Guest House and most certainly will not be the last !
The Host,Gerrie, is superbly attentive and most helpful in giving route advice to many different places as well as being pleasant at all times irrespective of any hiccups that may occasionally occur.
The place itself is very well appointed , clean and in a quiet neighbourhood with lovely gardens and swimming pool.
We often walked down to the local "pub" (Peddlars) for an evening meal and were provided with torches which was a splendid touch.

We are looking to return to South Africa in 2013 and the first we shall try to book will be Constantia Palms.

Room Tip: We are not prepared to advise on rooms since our favourite could well be already booked when we next...

Four bedroomed guest house, in a pleasant location in the Constia Valley. Close to village and mall and an easy walk to decent local restaurant/pub (Peddlers).

Rooms and bathrooms are good sized and nicely appointed, with good beds and linen. Coffee making facilities include real coffee (not the powdered muck!) and nice biscuits – other B+B owners please note!.

Breakfasts were excellent, taken in the common dining area. Large pool deck and spacious, scenic garden sitting area with good loungers and a nice pool. Helpful, hands-on, available owner lives on-site.

One large suite on offer and three bedrooms. Suite is huge, with balcony overlooking garden. We liked our garden room, with a small patio and good privacy.

25 minutes, door to terminal drop off for CPT is a big plus with an early flight!

Very good value B+B. We liked Constantia Palms and we will use it again.

Room Tip: Suite is best, but more expensive. Garden room is best alternative.

Stayed 5 days in mid Jan as first stop on our holiday and it was a perfect choice in terms of being very comfortable and being well looked after. Gerrie is a professional and attentive host. The rooms and breakfast are excellent and you can walk to local pub for meals or take advantage of great restaurants nearby. Very convenient for Constanatia wine tatsting, trips to Cape point and Kirstenbosch gardens.

Room Tip: All good and have small private sitting out areas.

Having viewed the web-site and read the Tripadvisor reviews our expectations for the Constantia Palms were high and we were not disappointed. The rooms were beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and well maintained. The enormous bed was extremely comfortable and the large bright bathroom included both bath and separate shower.
Our ground floor garden suite had it's own private garden which lead onto the spectacular landscaped garden. Excellent breakfasts were taken in the sunny dining room adjacent to the pool and personally overseen by Gerrie, who was always on hand to provide useful information about the locality.
Constantia is a great area to visit with wonderful wineries and restaurants (Catharinas at Steenbergs is an absolute must!) Would we return to the area, definitely. Would we stay at the Constantia Palms - without doubt.

Room Tip: There's only four rooms at this excellent B and B and they're all beautifully decorated and...

We stayed with Gerrie August 2011 - I was pleasantly surprised. The room was extremely comfortable with direct access to the yard yet with private with little patio & table and chairs. Like others have mensioned, the beds were a delight and the one thing I would have wanted to bring back with me. August in CPT is winter time, so it can get rather cold at night - the elektic bed warmer was fantastic and added to luxuary. Breakfast was spot on.
Looking foreward to our next stay.

Room Tip: Room facing the back yard with direct access to the pool area.
