Description: The Conservatory, situated adjacent to the historic Cellars-Hohenort cellar, offers diners unparalleled garden vistas from both the sun-drenched terrace and the indoor tables. Carefully constructed around a giant 300-year-old oak tree, The Conservatory is one of Constantia's finest daily breakfast, lunch and dinner venues. Here the head chef creates hotel classics alongside modern and seasonally influenced dishes. The Conservatory menu places a great emphasis on fresh produce from both The Cellars-Hohenort gardens and local green-friendly suppliers, and this gives it the unique ability to showcase a true taste of the Constantia Valley. Friendly service and an award-winning wine list ensure that The Conservatory offers guests and locals an exceptional everyday dining experience.

The Conservatory was a perfect finish of our trip to South-Africa. High class staff, excellent food and a very nice decor. Compared to South-African standards, this restaurant was somewhat more expensive. But price/quality still a lot higher than what we are used to pay in Europe...

We have made it a pilgrimage to spend our last night in South Africa at the Constantia Uitsig restaurant. This closed at the end of November and the young man in their tasting room recommended this restaurant to us. We were not disappointed. From the moment we entered we were greeted by smart, professional staff. The menu and wine list offered a great choice. The food was full of flavour and prepared with great attention to detail. Not somewhere to dine every night - keep it for a special occasion - but great food, great atmosphere and great staff.

I was treated to a birthday lunch at the Conservatory by a friend - what a lovely meal. The food is tasty, beautifully prepared and presented, and service is friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is lovely - open, airy and tranquil - and the views onto the mountain are simply gorgeous. Definitely worth visiting and definitely worth at least a few return visits.

I went there last night with my girlfriend and her parents.
The cheese souffle was exceptional, as well as the crispy duck and the malva pudding. The waiters were very friendly and knowledgeable, always there when we needed them, yet they were never overbearing.
I would definitely go back for a special occasion, all in all everything about this place is top notch, from the architecture to the food, to the service, to the music playing in the background.
It is very pricey, but well worth it.

Lunch at The Conservatory is one of those meals I just know I'm going to enjoy and look forward to with great anticipation.

The cheese soufflé starter is my permanent choice, nothing else even gets a look in for me. Mains are generous, great hamburgers (definitely not your run of the mill burger), fish of the day and mushroom risotto to name but a few. Afternoon tea is also excellent, some of the best scones in Cape Town.

The setting is beautiful, very tranquil and with the excellent service this is a wonderful way to while away an afternoon.

Thank Lucy B
