Groot Contantia is an all in one destination. Superb food. Superb wine tasting. Beautiful surroundings. Museums. A must!

Groot Constantia is one of the wineries on the Hop on/Hop off city sightseeing purple line tour. The estate is beautiful on a clear sunny day. I opted for a tour and wine tasting package (4 wines). They have a distributor in the US so you can order your wine and have it shipped directly to you instead of carrying it on the plane.

There is also a restaurant on-site if you wish to spend more time enjoying the day.

The oldest wine-producing farm in South Africa is a great place to combine wine tasting with history and to be wowed-out by Cape Town scenery. This is a good all-in-one package with a cultural history museum, Cape Dutch architecture, vineyards, wine tasting - all framed by the most drop-dead gorgeous, rugged, mountain-range scenery. There's also a couple of restaurants/cafes on site, although we didn't try those.

We weren't offered the wine and chocolate pairing, which is a shame as I would have liked to have tried that.

We decided to change our itinerary and visit Groot due to very rainy weather. It was still a nice stop though. We had the wine and chocolate pairing tasting. Went around the estate as well as had lunch at one of their restaurants. Just a nice relaxing day out. Bought some wine to bring home too.
