“Absolute Wonderful Stay”
Reviewed September 5, 2012

I highly recommend Paradiso Guesthouse in Constantia. On a recent visit to Cape Town, directed to their website by a booking agent I booked the poolside room online for 7 nights at their guaranteed best rate.

Unfortunately, I have had a few problems with Guesthouses: their websites descriptions bearing little resemblance to reality.

Arriving at Paradiso I was met by Melody, a pleasant, professional "meeter and greeter" and the owner of Paradiso. I must congratulate Melody, Cindi and Kim for making my stay a happy memory. Their website states: Paradiso offers friendly hospitality, set in a tranquil treed garden with sweeping views of the distant Constantiaberg Mountains, Constantia valley and its wine farms. This is an understatement; I enjoyed the relaxed laid back attitude, the room, winter
warmed with underfloor heating, the spa bath and all promised from the website, a reality, not a pipe dream.

The sumptuous breakfasts providing a wide selection of continental and English cuisine - freshly baked muffins, banana bread, croissants and fruit. Scrambled eggs and Omolette aux Fines Herbes made by Leonard, Melody's husband.

All in all I found the service to be excellent!

Room Tip: Pool side room or Private cottage is your best choice

We were 2 couples and booked accommodation for 1 night at this establishment as we had a wedding in the vicinity.

We were greeted by Cindy whom was friendly and showed us around. We booked the pool room and garden room for our accommodation. The rooms itself were nicely appointed with Wifi, coffee station mini bar with fresh milk and other amenities which can be used through the stay. The electrical blankets and additional heating in the rooms were also nice, as it was a stormy Cape Town day.

We booked lunch in advance and went through for lunch. The table was nicely set up in front of the fire place. Our bobotie with yellow rice that was made was nice, but we felt that for R85 it was a bit overly priced.

Breakfast the following morning had a choice of items, but not with a wide variety. Breakfast was plain with not imagination. Although this was included in our stay, we saw that the breakfast was R125 if not booked with the accommodation, and after having breakfast there, we all agreed that it is also hugely overpriced.

All in all 4 star rooms, but with 3 star main areas, service and food. Not a place that I would recommend to my friends.

We've just spent our sixth holiday at Paradiso - and it was as good as ever. Melody, Leonard, Cindi and Kim really go that extra mile to ensure that their guests have a wonderful time. The accommodation is very comfortable and exceptionally clean, with excellent breakfasts too. It's an ideal location in a safe, quiet area between the city and beach. Coupled with the wonderful weather - what more could one ask? We've already booked for February 2013!

First we want to thank Melody, Leonard, Cindi, and Kim, they do everything to feel good.
The accommodation is wonderful, very clean and comfortable. You have breakfast or self catering as well as dinner outside at the pool or in the lounge like you want.
The pool is solar heated and usable the whole time.
Our room was no.4 on the east side of the guest house with a lovely and peaceful garden.
We are looking forward to December 2012 to our next stay.

The rooms are beautifully furnished and equipped and the bathroom (in room 3) even had a bidet - a real rarity in South Africa. It is good to have a fridge in the room as well. The free Wifi functions well making this very useful if, like us, the trip is part business, part holiday. The hosts, Melody, Leonard, Cindi, and Kim, to everything to make you welcome, and they cook superb breakfasts. The pool is solar heated, so even if there is the usual Cape wind blowing, the pool is warm. The only minor gripe is that the drive is rather narrow and there is sometimes as bit of a problem shuffling cars in the morning, but this doesn't detract from the overall delight. Compared to other guesthouses in the area, the Paradiso is very reasonably priced.

I have just returned from my fifth stay at Paradiso and must say that standards there are consistently high. The accommodation is wonderful, very clean and comfortable and nothing is too much trouble for Melody, Leonard, Cindy or Kim. The location of Paradiso is excellent for visiting either the city or beach so one has the best of both worlds. I look forward to further stays at this delightful place.

During a 2-weeks visit to Capetown and the Garden Route, we enjoyed during four days the friendly hospitality of Melody and Leonard at their beautiful residence near the centre of Constantia. It was the ideal central location to explore the winelands around Constantia, and to visit Capetown and the Cape Point. We can strongly recommend this place to all those who
seek an alternative to impersonal hotels.
