We arrived here hoping for a late lunch and were shown to a table The waiter came over told us what a busy lunch service he had had and proceeded to ignore us for the next twenty minutes.

The place was untidy and the terrace was unswept and looked unloved. After waiting we got up and walked out,the front of house team saw us leave and didnt look as if they cared less.

Delicious food, great ambience, fantastic service. Found the menu to be slightly limited though. I had the peppered fillet steak which was delicious and perfectly done, but slightly too peppery. Groot constantia is an absolutely beautiful wine farm (one of the best in my opinion)

As Simon's is located on the Groot Constantia historical wine estate, you would think that it would be frequented mainly by tourists. The fact that it is a favourite for so many locals like us, is a testament to the consistently good food and service and the lovely location. You are already in the mood as you drive through the vineyards - even though it is only a few kilometres from home. It is not a "fine dining" restaurant, but the menu has dishes to appeal to every taste and the food is excellent and well presented. We have returned many times and have never had an unsatisfactory experience. An important aspect for us is that it is wheelchair friendly both inside and outside.

We went on a Sunday which was very busy with locals just using the restaurant. Great staff, good shady outdoor seating and lovely food. Really enjoyed the cheese souffle and Salmon. We would come back next time we are in CT just for the restaurant.

my wife and I visited on a Sunday afternoon around 2.30pm.
The restaurant was quite busy outside - and a lot of locals which is a good sign!
The food was very good - we shared a platter for 2 of meats and cheeses (Charcuter Plate at 135 Rand - maybe £10).
The staff were very friendly and attentive, although maybe a little slow on service due to the busyness. But we were in no rush either.
As well as a careffe of Shiraz and a still mineral water the total bill was 240 Rand (so about £20 with the tip!) so also fantastic value for money!

The restaurant had a broad menu (from steals to fish and poultry dishes) and plenty of wines to choose from. So a good play to visit if in Cape Town.
