A chain found across South Africa and elsewhere. Service was good, a bit too American for my liking, why not keep in character and keep it local? I liked the fact you could control the portion size of the fish and the salads are fresh. Not as good as some of the independents but worth a visit if you like fresh fish and don't mind the "chain" feeling.

The less said the better; the service was poor and the food was worse.

I took my family to eat here when they were visiting me in Cape Town and it was a huge disappointment. The garlic bread was the worst of it; utterly disgusting. My sister and I shared a seafood platter; the sauce the mussels came in was cold and the mussels and calamari were like rubber. Another of my guests had a beef dish (being averse to seafood!) and it was tough. Everything lacked seasoning.

It was also incredibly loud - we could barely have a conversation. Possibly this is the location/building, but still.

There are far better restaurants in Cape Town. Rather try them.

I went to the restaurant in the V & A waterfront, and was quite disappoited.
The staff were extremely friendly, polite and efficient but the fish was anything but fresh---most likely frozen and re-thawed.

The Cape Town fish market in Steenberg village is spacious with the main seating area as you enter and some additional upstairs seating. Very welcoming and although we had no booking the manager found us a small table. An extensive menu and wine list with a sushi bar and nice decor.

We had platters - prawns and calamari served with chips - and found the food to be very mainstream family type fare. Served nice and hot.

A good family style eatery rather than a romantic dinner date venue but worth a visit. This is one of many in the chain all over the country.

There are many of these in South Africa, they're all pretty good. It's not really haut cuisine but definitely a class above the average fish'n'chips—even thought they offer that as well. More choice than the ubiquitous hake and reasonable prices.
