“A Lively Experience”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

The atmosphere of the restaurant is where it all starts. It's vibrant and bustling from when you walk through the door.

One is spoiled for choice when opening the menu. Colourful margarita's keep the ladies and gents grinning all night. Two portion sizes, Big and Very Big. Go with the very big and take the left over home for the morning. The Chili poppers are a must.

Service was friendly and informative.

One leaves Pancho's with a full stomach, a jolly demeanor and a twinkle in ones' eye.

“OK tex-mex food at reasonable prices with a nice vibe.”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

I have eaten at Pancho's before, but the last time was a couple of years back. Always enjoyed their food as I am a fan of Tex-Mex.
Their food is in general not spicy/hot so if you like it that way you need to ask for it!
We were a table of 8.

We shared lemon margarita jugs (ok, a bit acidic) & the strawberry (very nice!).

We started with mixed platters to share which are yummy - a good way to try a variety of things. Chilli poppers were, as always FAB! Just felt the 'dips' (guacamole, etc) were such tiny amounts it wasn't enough for 2 people sharing!

I & a few others had Enchiladas for mains. Mine had beef filling. Overall it was quite nice but I must admit that the meat was quite dry. Again the sour cream it's served with was too little - especially considering that it was on the dry side. I had the Mexican portion & it was more than enough so don't get carried away with ordering large sizes!

One of my friends had a Flauta with chicken & almonds filling - this is a deep-fried enchilada-type of dish. He seemed to enjoy it & said it was delicious.

Another friend had a burger. Perhaps not the best choice in a tex-mex restaurant, but that's what he felt like. Unfortunately, he really didn't enjoy it - it was very dry. Another friend had the zucchini (courgette) filled with Chilli con Queso - he's vegetarian - and did not enjoy it at all.
Everyone else had either burritos or enchiladas with chicken fillings & said they were good.

We didn't have deserts - all too full!

We had an American waitress who was very friendly, polite & helpful, without being intrusive. Considering how bad service is in general in Cape Town, we really appreciated having a waitress who was good at her job - thumbs up for the service!

Be aware when booking in the evening as there are 2 'sittings'. The 1st sitting you have to leave at 8.00 - no argument. The 2nd sitting you can only be there at 8.30. Reservations are a MUST - you will not get a table if you don't book!

The restaurant itself is cosy & the decor is really nice. It's not very big but there's enough space. It's quite noisy but you can still have a conversation!

“Fantastic!”

A great rustic and vibey restaurant. They have some great options for vegetarians - often hard for us veggies to find much choice! They are very reasonably priced. Always a fun time to be had at Panchos.
