“Shocking Service”
Reviewed March 27, 2013

I used to love their sushi, but friends ordered it and ended up getting rotten tuna. They complained, only to be told they'd be brought some more. When they surprisingly didn't want another sushi roll with rotten tuna, and asked what the restaurant would do about it, the manager simply said "Don't order the tuna in future". Another time, when I ordered a meal for take-away (they were pretty full), and it was missing key parts of the meal, so I called in when I got home and let them know, they didn't give two hoots. The manager said I could come down and collect it but they weren't going to do anything else about it (never mind that it would mean that my meal is cold and I've spent extra money on petrol getting back to the restaurant and home again.

Willoughby's used to be really good food, but if feels as though they've become lax in all departments.

“A restaurant and food experience not to be missed”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

Willoughby;s is one of the best and busiest restaurants in Cape Town. Its is situated in the Waterfront and is always fully booked as the service is outstanding, the food unbeatable and although its is situated in the middle of a shooping centre, so there is no view, it makes no difference. Unless you're there by Noon. when it opens, or just after you have to queue for a tabvle, whbich people do not hestitate to do.

“Willoughby's never dissapoint you.”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

Me, my wife, our son, his and his wife and their two kids,.. 4 and 6 years old, had lunch today at Willoughby”s. Firstly, I must say, that due to my daughter living in Cape Town, and me and my wife visits her at least every second week, and then make use of the opportunity to have dinner at a restaurant in the Waterfront. Today’s lunch was again exceptional good. My son and his wife had sushi, my wife had an Japanese chicken dish. I had a selection of fish from the salad bar. The two kids had fish and chips from the kiddies menu. Our food was as said exceptional good. Our waiter , Ashley, was very friendly, and the service excellent.

When you decide to visit the restaurant, be aware that, they don’t take any bookings, and because they are so popular, you may wait 10-15 minutes for a table. Also note that the restaurant is about in the centre of the building , and there is no view. About 80% of the tables are in an area in front of the restaurant in a “isle” area...but the atmosphere is great. Said all this, I can still just recommend this restaurant to anybody.

They serve from Sushi and Japanese food to seafood. The portions are big and you will definitely have enough to eat. They have a good wine list , from affordable local wine..to very expensive wine. I would say that there wine is by far the most reasonable priced from all restaurants in the Waterfront.

So. you can’t book, perhaps you will wait in a queue for a table, they don’t have view,..but if you want good food, Willoughy’s is the place to go.

The total bill for 4 adults and two kids , was R590. That included two classes of a good wine.
