“Divine, Thin Crust Pizza”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2013

We usually go to Baccini's when in CPT but decided to try something different on this short visit and oh boy what a find! What a charming, little restaurant..... Went in a party of 4 and 3 of us ended up having pizza - absolutely one of the best I have had in ages. Thin crust, slightly charred on the edges - just the way I love it, I honestly couldnt stop eating.. The daughter had a chicken salad and ate every last morsel - loved it! Service wasn't the most efficient - lets call it adequate. Great vibe and nice to see loads of locals supporting this little gem!

“Hectic,fun,noisy Italian restaurant....great food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2013

We love this place and always go when in CT. The strawberry salad is divine and the pizza's excellent. It's fast and furious sometimes but this all adds to the fun. When busy don't expect personal service but we did notice that regular locals were treated with great respect and fondness.

“A nice little find”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2013

We found this quite by chance when we couldn't get into a fancier restaurant in the neighbourhood. It was a pleasant surprise. It serves good, genuine Italian food - the owner is from Sardinia.

The service was a slow, at least to start with, but it did improve. My partner ordered chicken breasts in lemon and chilli, and enjoyed it very much. I had the best beef lasagne I've ever eaten. The prices are reasonable, though the portion of lasagne was maybe a bit small. Desserts too were good: tiramisu and a meringue with cream and strawberries - both of which were also reasonably priced.

The one gripe was the limited range of sodas: no Sprite or Sprite zero (only lemonade, in those horrible small cans); a rock shandy worked out quite pricey at R30. Also, although it was a cold evening (it is the middle of winter, after all), the heat from the ovens made the place uncomfortably hot. I hope in summer they have a better way of dealing with it - sitting outside would be a good option if the wind isn't blowing.

But overall, a very nice surprise.

Oh - just a general niggle. The restaurant participates in the Street Smart campaign, whereby patrons "voluntarily" contribute R5, which goes towards educating street kids. But the R5 is added onto the bill, without one being asked. That's my objection: had they asked me, I'd probably have given much more. I don't like the fact that it was added without me being asked. I'm sure they would have reversed it had I requested it, but after all, who is going to do that and be made to be feel like a scrouge?

“Sicily in Cape Town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 9, 2013 via mobile

Truly authentic Italian food. And a secret gem too as not many people would really think of going there. It's small and quaint and extremely authentic.
Best pizza in the western cape hand down... And for a lover of Italy, it is really nostalgic and heart warming to be greeted and served by true Italians. A must!
