Description: Enjoy creative contemporary cooking in a visually exciting venue. With its historic Table Mountain stone and old brick that dates back to the 18th century, architect Leon Saven's design is complemented by glass, concrete and exposed ducting. Cabbage motif chandeliers and salt dishes, fine table appointments and impeccable service reflect outstanding attention to detail. The menu alters daily, using the freshest local produce and combines unusual flavours to excite the palate of the discerning diner. A boutique wine list which is very reasonably priced.

“Not that special”
Reviewed December 13, 2013

Staff very welcoming at first, ordered food and after that the service was hit and miss - waited a long time to order more drinks and basically we were left to our own devices. Food ok, my partner had the eland which was slightly tasteless and I had the lamb with was better.
All in all I had much better elsewhere.

“A little disappointing”
Reviewed December 11, 2013

We had a very impersonal greeting when we arrived at the restaurant and were directed to the table with a wave of the hand. The owners then came upstairs to chat to people at the next table to us and did not stop to acknowledge us I found this quite rude. The waiter was nice and helpful but the meal was not special The only time we were noticed was when we asked for our hotel car to collect us I was not impressed.

“Very good Thanksgiving meal for Americans in CPT”
Reviewed December 11, 2013

We arrived in CPT on Thanksgiving Day and were very happy to hear that Savoy Cabbage would be serving an American Thanks giving inspired meal. The meal was a very nice 5 course meal. For 32$ a person, it was a steal. The menu was well-planned and the food was imaginative and prepared with care. Also, the service was very nice. We were warmly greeted, cared for, and thanked as we left. It wasn't quite home, but it def made us feel happy eventhough we were not in the US for Thanksgiving.

“Creative Meal - Good Vegetarian Options”
Reviewed December 7, 2013

Nice (interesting) setting and great meal. Not a lot of choices excluding meet but we were able to find dishes that were very nice. Particularly loved the tomato tart (free), and Olive, Caramelised Onion and Feta Tarts.

“Not quite at its best”
Reviewed December 6, 2013

It's long been one of our Cape Town favourites, but last night I found myself agreeing with some of the less-effusive guests. Our hostess was as visible as ever and there continues to be the great attention to detail and a convivial atmosphere...but I missed the passion and deep knowledge about the food and wine lists that we're always had from the waiting staff in the past.

Having said that, the game was as good as ever and the tomato tart was beautiful. Next time we'll take our own wine (disappointing list for such a stellar wine-growing region - and only R45 corkage) and steer clear of the Caesar salad - which tasted of anchovies - and nothing else
