With its historic Table Mountain stone and old brick that dates back to the 18th century, architect Leon Saven's design is complemented by glass, concrete and exposed ducting. Cabbage motif chandeliers and salt dishes, fine table appointments and impeccable service reflect outstanding attention to detail. The menu alters daily, using the freshest local produce and combines unusual flavours to excite the palate of the discerning diner. Free range organic and ethically sourced ingredients. Allergies catered for. A boutique wine list which is very reasonably priced.

We are spending 3 days in Capetown and this was the second night. Highly rated starters were the white grape almond gazpacho and the chicken liver parfait with port soaked figs. Are main was also excellent...pickled lamb fillet and grilled Karan beef sirloin. Our server,Maia was exceptional .
We highly recommend this place. It appeared that most of the patrons were locals..not tourist.

Seek out Savoy Cabbage and make sure you are adventurous in your selections. Where else can you try warthog, impala and springbok. Try the duck if its on the menu too - stunning!

We were a group of 7 - British, South African, Austrian and German - and we all agreed that the restaurant is top class. The food was great, the service was discreet, friendly and efficient and the setting is lovely with no annoying background music. A good time was had by all. A big thank you to all at the Savoy Cabbage!

OMG the poached pear starter and tomatoes tart were amazing. Non fussy well cooked tasty food. The restaurant has a very nice relaxed vibe to it in a beautiful setting.
This place is my favourite restaurant in this area.

We've been going to Savoy Cabbage since 2000 on our annual trip to Cape Town, and have had poor service before. But have to say the other night took the biscuit. Almost waited two hours for the main course and we certainly were not alone. Whilst the serving staff were apologetic, the proprietor appeared more concerned
with some larger bookings on the ground floor and left us to wait. It's such a shame as the place used to be good by comparison in Cape Town. However, there is now such a wide variety of better venues across the wider Cape Town area there is no reason to visit. The decor is tatty and as for the food - sweetbreads - when it came, had the constituency of slop. Never again.

You are right, it was a dreadful night and in 15 years of trading one of the worst we have ever had! Two chefs were down in the hot kitchen because of illness and to add to this, every early table arrived late and every late table arrived early, including yours, if I recall correctly. This was exacerbated by people not ordering starters. Suddenly 60 orders hit the hot kitchen within 15 minutes of each other. No Kitchen team could have coped without some delays.

I was managing the situation in the kitchen and the pass as best I could and asked each waiter to explain the delays to their tables.

The tables that I greeted personally was an ex staff member who we had not seen for some time and one of the guest houses that send us a significant amount of business. With that welcome went a request to hold back on their orders so that the kitchen could catch up. This they willingly agreed to do.

Unfortunately your table (which I suspect was the table for two on the balcony sitting on the right hand side) was the last in the queue for main courses and you did wait a long time. It was however not nearly as long as your review indicates. We only call main courses once starters have been cleared.

I had asked each of my waiting staff to communicate the reason for the delays and as far as I was aware everyone understood the difficulties we were under.

Next time you are in Cape Town please send me an email and I would happily invite you to experience Savoy Cabbage as it should be.
