“"Italian food" ?”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

The place is nice and the revamp was well done. The terrace became a romantic place though right on the Marine Drive. A beautiful and well organized bar is still a place to go. But the food is as far away from italian food as Arctic from Antarctic. Of course they serve different kind of pasta and other dishes with italian names, but when you know Italy and the italian cucina there is nothing in common. So unfortunately you will be served average food in a good ambience. The spaghetti we ordered were warmed up and ice cold at the bottom. Over friendly indian waiters made us feel more Mumbai than Roma....

“Forewarned is forearmed....”
Reviewed March 30, 2013

I read a bunch of reviews on Tripadvisor beforehand. Many said that the service was poor, but happily it wasn't. I was surprised at how many reviews said that the food wasn't great - but unfortunately, that was just the case. There were six of us, and of the five main courses we ordered, one of them could only be described as a 'ready-meal' (the cannelloni), one was stodgy and inedible (butternut ravioli) and the seafood platter was so bad (having been left to sit & get cold before coming to the table) it had to be sent back. The two chicken dishes were really good, as were the baby leaf salads & the sea food and rice soup (starters). Desserts were sub standard, in particular the Tiramisu and the Baked Cheesecake.

I'm afraid that I must add to the growing list of the disappointed, and say again that there are MANY better (and cheaper) Italian restaurants in Cape Town.

“Many better ones!”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

To be honest there are many many other and better Italians in Cape Town. The food is average, it is rather on the expensive side and the service is below average.

Many of the waiters are there for 20 - 40 years which is nice that the management keeps their staff but it can be also bad when service lacks and attitude takes over.

Definitely not going back!

“Nice place for sundowners in the heart of Sea Point”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

Went there for sundowners - perfect. Nice view, close enough to the ocean, situated on a main road, but not overly noisy with the cars driving by as it has a great location. Good drink selection and good food as well. Moderately priced, hip, trendy.

“seafood and view not to be missed”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

our family had a lunch there. The chairs are old, the waiters older but the large seafood platter with crayfish at R850 is not to be missed. 3 of us were thoroughly entertained by the assorted monsters of the deep. The view is great but go during the day.

we went again at night but the lunches are superior
