This was our fourth trip to Cape Town and the fourth time we have booked our tours with the Wine Desk. We have booked similar with other agents and been hugely disappointed. This time we booked two tours, L'ormarines was not on the original list but the Wine Desk specialise in accommodating the customer so we just asked and it became part of the trip. For our first tour on our guide was David, he was very good company, knowledgeable, affable and with a wealth interests that went far beyond wine. We visited four Wine Farms, all magnificent and all worth visiting simply to experience their opulence and decadence, those with an interest in wine were more than satisfied, those who had little interest in sampling wine (me) simply enjoyed the awe inspiring geology of the area and the gorgeous settings of the farms.
Our second tour was "lifestyle" rather than exclusively wine and the flavour of the day was quite different, we. Visited three wine farms and then spent a couple of hours in Stellenboch, Wayne was our host for the day and his interest in wildlife as well as wine added another interesting dimension to the day.
The Wine Desk no longer have a booth on the Waterfront but can be contacted through Travel Arena at the Waterfront Tourist Information Centre, their wine tours are one of the highlights of our visits to Cape Town, they offer a set itinerary but will taylor each tour as requested even whilst the day is in progress.
We have been on tours with other operators and been reminded that there are some shockingly bad experiences to be had, I thoroughly recommend the Wine Desk.
