Okay, I stayed here months ago and still have it on my to do list to join tripadvisor and write a review. And I have still not forgotten until I check this one off---why? because this place is top notch. Clean, sophisticated, friendly and like home. You can't beat the rooms, the really wonderful guests and the sincere effort by Julian to make you feel comfortable. It's just a nice starting point for an adventure in Cape Town. Plenty of safe parking on the street and, gee, the guy will even cook dinner for you....he charges, of course, but not much and you get the feeling as you chill out over a pasta dish that your own apartment was transported to this gem of a place. Oh yeah, when your done, if you're staying on the second floor, try having a bath on veranda outside watching Table Mountain. You may think you're living a dream.

If you want peace and quiet in a friendly setting, the Cactus House is the place to stay. Our room has a great view of the mountain. The staff (Albert and Julian) were unbelievably friendly and nothing seemed too much effort for them. All in all a very pleasant experience.

My visit to Cape Town would not have been the same without the priviledge to stay at Cactus Guest House. It was just perfect for my travel style (as a matter of fact I did not know I had one until discovering its definition at Cactus House). Comfortable, spacy, quiet, with every attention to detail in its decoration and especially the attention to the needs of me as guest by the friendly host and staff. If you love to "go local" at at the same time you are used to the five star hotels amenities...look no further!

Room Tip: If you book in advance you may want to request a room with the balcony, although due to the proximit...

It's difficult to say how lovely and friendly this place is without sounding effusive. However, Jason, Simon and Albert immediately make you feel very welcome. The set up means that you quickly meet other people staying here which is great fro making new friends and impromptu evenings out together. One night, Julian cooked a a great meal for us all and we had a fabulous evening.

The rooms are bright and airy all the rooms on the first floor have some sort of view of Table Mountain as it towers over you.

The hotel is located in City bowl. It is a few minutes walk from all the major downtown locations and only 5 minutes by car to the night life.

I checked out of a much smarter hotel, due to service issues to stay here. I only wish I'd stayed here for all my trip.

We had been staying at Cactus House before, an have ultimately become good friends with the staff. We therefore decided to go to Cape Town once again and stayed 2 weeks at Cactus House.

As experienced previously, the stay was absolutely perfect. The house itself had been redecorated and modernized since our last day, and it looked really awesome.

They also introduced optional dinners, varying from Indian, South African, seafood, etc. The price is increadibly reasonable and it taste very good. They also serve fresh cocktails. Had quite a few of them :-)

But the best thing about Cactus House is once again the staff. Simon, Julian & Albert all go to great lengths to make sure you have a good stay. They're absolute gems! As said before, we have become good friends with them, and we're already figuring out when to see them again in 2012.

We would recommend this place to anyone, anytime... Thanks for a good stay, guys! See you soon...
