We (Family with a 12 yrs kid) stayed at Redbourne during our Cape Town visit in October 2013. I had decided on Oranjezicht / Redbourne mainly because of the view of the city at night and the view definitely was superb... whether the city view at breakfast time or the lighted city at night or the Table mountain hovering behind the Guest House.
LOCATION : CT has very varied type of stay options depending on where one would like to stay - next to the beach, in the hustle bustle of main city or a peaceful central location with a nice view. Our preference being the last one, this Guest House suited us perfectly. Centrally located and close by to Kloof Nek (The restaurants), V&A Waterfront (Markets, Eateries n more), Table Mountain Cable Way or Camps Bay (Very Short drive away). The area is very peaceful, quiet and quite safe. (A car would be recommended for ease of movement, though not having one does not restrict mobility since cabs can be called for).
THE GUEST HOUSE : The wooden feel of the interiors & rooms gives a very cozy homely feeling and the beds are very comfortable, the rooms very clean. All in all a very very comfortable stay. Secured Parking is available inside the Guest House.
THE HOSTS : Sharon & Jonny are amazing hosts, always helpful with any guidance. Sharon would especially check on our plan for the day / next day and guide us on how to go about it to make the best of the visit. She advised us on restaurants, shopping areas, routes and it not one bit feel that we are in a new city. We got to know a lot about South Africa - what it was like over the years which sort of build a connection with the place. One feels absolutely comfortable & at home with them.
