We (2 adults, 2 kids aged 10&12) stayed here for 5 nights. The bedrooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable. Pool is small but all you need to cool off - we were out and about most of the time so it fitted the bill perfectly. Breakfast is excellent with great range of continental and cooked to order hot food. The views from the breakfast room are stunning. There is a fully stocked honesty bar and nice communal area. The owners are incredibly helpful with top tips on where to go, maps, ticket bookings, airline check-in etc, nothing was too much trouble. The area is perfectly located from which to explore Cape Town. Everything was an easy drive and for the times we didn't want to use the car we took a taxi (80 Rand to Waterfront, 40 Rand from Long Street). Not really walking distance to anywhere as up a very steep hill. Can't comment on public transport. All in all, a really enjoyable stay. Would be fantastic to hire as a whole party, think it sleeps approx 12.

Room tip: back of house looks over city, front over table mountain so either are lovely!

We (Family with a 12 yrs kid) stayed at Redbourne during our Cape Town visit in October 2013. I had decided on Oranjezicht / Redbourne mainly because of the view of the city at night and the view definitely was superb... whether the city view at breakfast time or the lighted city at night or the Table mountain hovering behind the Guest House.
LOCATION : CT has very varied type of stay options depending on where one would like to stay - next to the beach, in the hustle bustle of main city or a peaceful central location with a nice view. Our preference being the last one, this Guest House suited us perfectly. Centrally located and close by to Kloof Nek (The restaurants), V&A Waterfront (Markets, Eateries n more), Table Mountain Cable Way or Camps Bay (Very Short drive away). The area is very peaceful, quiet and quite safe. (A car would be recommended for ease of movement, though not having one does not restrict mobility since cabs can be called for).
THE GUEST HOUSE : The wooden feel of the interiors & rooms gives a very cozy homely feeling and the beds are very comfortable, the rooms very clean. All in all a very very comfortable stay. Secured Parking is available inside the Guest House.
THE HOSTS : Sharon & Jonny are amazing hosts, always helpful with any guidance. Sharon would especially check on our plan for the day / next day and guide us on how to go about it to make the best of the visit. She advised us on restaurants, shopping areas, routes and it not one bit feel that we are in a new city. We got to know a lot about South Africa - what it was like over the years which sort of build a connection with the place. One feels absolutely comfortable & at home with them.

Room tip: We stayed in the room next to the entrance... overlooking the front of the Guest house. The room was very spacious

We recently stayed at the Redbourne Hilldrop....absolutely fabulous!! Sharon & Jonny were terrific hosts & nothing was too much trouble for them..they were extremely helpful & informative about places to visit, arranged online bookings for table mountain, which is literally on their doorstep....so close you can almost touch it!! Recommended great restaurants. Our room was extremely comfortable with fantastic views over Cape Town & the Waterfront....on par with the views you are treated to, whilst enjoying a delicious & plentiful breakfast!! Would we return to South Africa?....certainly, would we return to Redbourne Hilldrop?....most definitely!!!

This is a stunning venue close to the city with warm helpful hosts.
The mountain is right behind this home and I was able to walk safely around the beautiful serene suburb in the mornings. the bedroom was massive, the bed and linen high class and the view of the whole city is unbelievable.

Sharon and Jonny could not have done more to ensure that the start of our honeymoon in South Africa began in the best possible fashion. Nothing was ever too much trouble and they virtually arranged our entire itinerary while we were in Cape Town.
There are fabulous views over the bay from the front and to Table Mountain from the back while the rooms were clean and spacious.
Sharon prepared us delicious breakfasts every morning and truly made us feel like family rather than guests (she even offered us, as dog lovers, their dog to walk).
Cannot recommend highly enough and just wish we had more time there.
