The luxurious apartment hotel is central located in Cape Town, with efficient and friendly staff. Good access to the main attractions of that beautiful city. Has indoor parking (extra charge) with direct connection to the hotel's lobby. Highly recommended!!

Dear Julyse,

Thank you for the kind words as per your review on TripAdvisor recently. It makes me extremely proud when we have lived up to the ethos of “Ubuntu” and with this have created an exceptional experience for our guests. This in turn will hopefully ensure that Mandela Rhodes Place becomes your “home” when next in Cape Town.

Kind regards

Desmond

Our annual holiday takes us through Cape Town and this was our fourth stay at Mandela.

We booked a double platinum suite as per previous visits and knew what to expect. The suite is large and includes a good sized kitchen, dining bar, large lounge, balcony and 2 large en suite bedrooms.

Our experience on previous visits was of fabulous staff and impeccable service and this remains true despite the change of management agent. We were greeted warmly, our booking was correct and we were escorted to our room without fuss.

When we were getting the kids ready for bed I wiped the shower down post child destruction and was upset to see the towel was filthy and covered in human hair. I spoke with reception who referred me to the house keeping manager Norma. Our complaint was heard immediately and we were offered a change of room at once. We opted not to do so as we had unpacked a weeks worth of luggage. Norma ascertained that we were going out for the day and assured us that the issue would be resolved by the time we returned.

Upon checking the room it had clearly been serviced throughout and we were touched to receive a bouquet of flowers, a bottle of wine and a t shirt for the kids. Norma was true to her word and a genuine pleasure to deal with.

The location is ideal for the centre of town and the walk to the V&A is possible but only on a nice day.

Dining is taken care of my the Doppio Zero or Mutha Cuppa in reception. The Mutha Cuppa was great and the coffee is spectacular. We would have appreciated being told that the restaurant and pool are out of action but the impact was minimised by the time of year.

All told a great stay and we will return without a doubt.

Room Tip: Higher floors for the view.

Dear Markcjd,

I think the mere fact that you stayed here 4 times already speaks volumes. With this I can just add that I apologize for the small glitch you had and am even more delighted to have ready that Norma could assist you with sorting out these issues.

We are keeping your room ready for the 5th time.

Regards

Clean, stylish and fully equiped with everything you need to cook, wash etc. All in a large apartment (2 bedrooms, large balcony). Excellent location. Staff very nice. And a tourism office rep in front of reception so you can program anything from wine testing to diving to get a close look at sharks! Dopio restaurant offering good service and good food at any time of the day. Only negative point : pool not available when i went there in july (going through maintenance work in the winter period)

Amazing!!! The apartment was stylish and immaculate, with everything you need from a washing machine & dryer to a large fridge freezer and fully equipped kitchen. The bathroom was really clean and had a brilliant shower and a huge bath. The free Wi-Fi was also a bonus. The staff were really polite and friendly, especially the man who worked in the tourist information shop, his recommendations were spot on and he also helped me with arranging transport to the airport. The hotel is in a superb location, pretty much central and close to shops, restaurants, bars and markets.
The only downside was the pool was closed for maintenance but that didn't detract from the hotel and my stay. The next time I visit Cape Town I will definitely be staying here again and would highly recommend it to anybody.

Dear Michelle I,

I was very happy to have read your review and look forward to your next visit here. I am sorry that the pool was closed but alas we needed to upgrade it as it was time.

Kind regards

We was pleasantly surprised by the accommodation. Lovely 2 bedroom apartment overlooking the pool, with a large balcony. Kitchen well equipped, apartment clean and tidy. We stayed here with our 2 young children. Lovely big bath and great showers. The Doopia restaurant offered great food and I recommed the Food Market next door, especially the Sushi bar. Good locations on the Red and Blue bus routes. 35 min walk to the V&A. Close to the SA Museum, Planetarium and Art Gallery. I would definately recommend this for a family.

Service excellent and friendly.

We went on previous reviews and requested a quiet room away fro the Mall. This request was met.

Room Tip: Request a room away from the Mall. Our 2 bedroom apartment was T803.
